The law does not protect IP, nor can it protect IP. Any law that claims to protect IP is protecting something else entirely.

Sorry if you feel differently but that is reality.

So tell me this, since you do know what you're talking about here, however, where am I off on my thinking based in what I've said in this thread. I know I'm not 100%.

The idea of property at all is dependent on ones beliefs. That's not to say that a society doesn't operate under a social contract that is based on respecting the idea of their definition of property. I'm sure if you take indigenous tribes across the world, their idea of property would be vastly different than western beliefs.

re: IP topic of the day: The Pirate Bay's legal policy

So if I can DVR a show on tv legally, can someone download a movie on their computer legally if it is being shown on HBO, or how about TNT? Or does the fact that commercials are still paying TNT's bills make it illegal?

I don't recall everything posted by you. I think you're in the right direction other than the soda recipe stuff.

Dude, this is a philosophical discussion. You are right about the law as written in general.

re: IP topic of the day: The Pirate Bay's legal policy

The biggest issue in this thread is a group of us are arguing ideology against guys who are arguing legality, but the guys arguing legality refuse to understand that.

I was going to mention this, but if he wants to talk to a lawyer about it I support that.

Most nations are signatories to international treaties protecting IP but not all of them enforce it like others would like them to
