Would you say the same for Bush when he was doing what Obama is doing right now?

I did. Even though I disagreed with his actions more then once.

What constitutes them as a "terrorist"?? Do they wear a uniform or do they have an ID card saying they belong to "al-CIAda" or Hamas?? AMERICAN citizens should NEVER be assassinated no matter fricking what. You are setting a very dangerous precedence.

Obama is as much of a patriot as any of you whining in this thread.
Who is the judge of Obama's patriotism? Does every citizen have the right to make the judgement for themseleves and decide whether Obama deserves to live or die? Can they rely on the legal arguments Obama put forth in this White Paper as a defense if charged with a crime? If the U.S. government is allowed to ignore the Constitution for its convenience, then why should citizens not be allowed to ignore laws for their convenience? Why have laws if you don't bother following them?

Suppose John Q. Public feels that killing some member of the cabinet is best for the country. Why is he less qualified to make that determination than some unknown government employee with respect to extrajudicial killing?

As an experiment I just reported you to the government and told them you plan on bringing a dirty bomb into the States at some point in the near future. Now, since you're presently in the States you can't get the full drone treatment, but I'm wondering if they'll at least tase your arse from the sky or maybe pelt you with rubber bullets until a Swat team comes to gently collect you.

If, for some reason, anything should happen to you I just want you to know...I take no responsibility. This is war and the enemy is everywhere after all.

You do know that eventually one day won't turn out like always, right?

So you're cool with the killing of Americans that are not in combat,

If an American citizen has taken up arms against America by joining Al Qaeda or an affiliated group overseas and becomes part of their leadership, they are subject to the laws of war. Citizenship does not bear upon this.

Second, what did the memo say 3 years ago? What will it say 3 yrs from now?

It doesn't really matter what the memo says...it doesn't have the force of law. It just refers to applicable laws.

If you are anywhere near someone in al-Qaeda leadership I think you would know. They're not the kind of people that let just anyone near them. You wouldn't be anywhere near them if you weren't one of them.

It's most amusing the defense from the left bc of lesser policies they previously denounced.

Gee thanks. Sarcasm isn't one of your strong suits. That much is obvious.

Is that the comprehensive list of all wanted terrorists? No, and it isn't close to the list of all suspected terrorists. Where do you go for fair warning to avoid suspected terrorists? Doesn't your government owe you the courtesy of telling you whom to avoid before it kills you for associating with them? Or is it reasonable for the government to presume you know everything about everyperson you come into contact with? That is the standard under Obama's White Paper.

Try to avoid Afghanistan and Yemen and I think you'll be OK

You haven't read the white paper, have you?

Seriously people, they droned a 16 year old kid because, and I QUOTE, "should have [had] a far more responsible father" courtesy of Robert Gibbs.

The kid hadn't seen his father in 2 years and they droned him weeks after his father was killed.

If "should have [had] a far more responsible father" is enough burden of proof for ASSASSINATING A MINOR then we are truly doomed as a nation, and I don't give a frick which party is the one doing it.

That's it just make a smug response. What about Pakistan? Should I avoid it as well since we have used drone to kill suspected terrorists there as well?

quote:

You haven't read the white paper, have you?
Yes, I have. Have you? The White Paper does not require actual planning of an attack against the U.S. for one to become a target. So the actual standard for becoming a target is nothing more than guesswork by some unknown government employee. Do you think the government is going to require there be transcripts of any meeting between an American citizen and some suspected terrorist, or do you think the meeting alone will be enough for suspicion and possible targeting? Per the White Paper just the fact of communicating with the suspected terrorist is enough.

When did Congress declare war? Hell, when did the UN sanction action?

The Fifth Amendment:

quote:

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation

I didn't see an exception of "but we can kill you if we say we are at war with a group you may or may not be aligned with"

Without evidence, you just take their word for it?

Should cops be able to make that same call?
