Diedorf higher than last makes that list not legit.

Collinsworth was so much better on NFL Network when he didn't care about human interest stories and stuck to matchups.

CC and AM are tied for my top two with Gruden and the other dude (for some reason name is evading me...) on MNF

Which of the Gumbel brothers was on NFL Network when they first started broadcasting games? He was awful.

Any list that doesn't have Buck and Aikman last is irrelevant.

No way Jim Nantz is a better football announcer than Al Michaels. Nantz is damn good but Al Michaels is a legend. I do agree with the author's point that Simms is dragging Nantz down. Simms really brings nothing to the table and his football knowledge pales in comparison to the likes of Mayock and Aikman. They probably still should be ranked ahead of Gumbel and Dierdorf though who are awful.

6. Kenny Albert and Daryl Johnston, FOX

This is almost unfair to Albert. If we were doing straight play-by-play rankings, Albert would be in the top five, possibly for multiple sports. Unfortunately, FOX has teamed him with the Daryl Johnston-Tony Siragusa dog-and-pony show.

Even if this were just Albert and Johnston, it would be much more enjoyable — even if Johnston loses the count sometimes, as in Week 10, when he suggested that the Saints, up 31-27 at the time on the Falcons, take a safety to go up by six (a safety would have made it 31-29).

Siragusa does not bring much to the table from his vantage point on the field, often dipping into the tired “body language” reports to gauge a team’s mentality.

This is legit. Kenny Albert is one of my favorite play by play guys. He has that deep voice which takes a little getting used to, but they should do transripts of his announcing and make other play by play guys study it and learn from him.
