I heard some of the rumored headliners. Sounds like a douche fest. Kings of leon, black keys, and zac brown "band".

I went to hangout once and wasn't all that impressed with the experience as a music festival. Don't get me wrong it was a lot of fun but if I'm choosing one summer festival it won't be that one.
With those headliners I'd have to be given a ticket to attend

Went last year and had a great time. This year sounds like a snoozer. Bummed because i already booked a beach house.

Wait till the full lineup gets released before you call it a snoozer...
The MGMT has so much money to spend that they're bound to bring artists you like...
FWIW i saw Black Keys at Hangout 2 years ago (and im a huge fan) and their set really disappointed me. No real stage presence, cut their set by 25 minutes. Just seemed like they didn't want to be there.

The lineup hasnt even come out. Rumors are just rumors. I cant tell you how many swing and misses I have heard over the past 3 years before the lineup even came out. Be patient brahs.

I just think hangout is more of party on the beach as opposed to traditional festival experience. And thats not because you don't camp.
Jazzfest and Voodoo bring a lot more atmosphere without having to camp, as did outside lands in San Francisco when I went a few years ago.
I think hangout is a lot of fun and i have been and will probably go in the future. But if I am looking for a real festival experience Hangout does not count IMO. Also the new lack of late night at hangout really hurts.

Hangout really is a giant SEC party on da beach. I had a blast in 2011.

very good post. I've heard the same type of headliners rumored sans Zac Brown. Nothing against them, but that's country not festival music. If these turn out to be true it will be a straight frat fest, even worse than last year was

I agree, if they let any country band (i've never listened to zac brown but it all sounds the same) headline the fest it will be a major disappointment. They can do way better than that.
I've been for the last 3 years and had fun every time. Can't make it this year so i'm doing VIP at Waka instead.

Yeah Im probably out this year after attending the last two years. Both were great, but when I pay that much $ for tix I want music all night b/c I kick it late.
You'll love Waka, it's awesome. Im thinking either Summercamp or Electric Forest besides Waka, maybe Jazz Fest if I can swing the funds by then

Yea this is gunna be my 3rd waka, first time going VIP though.
I'd love to make Electric Forset but that's just such a far drive. I had some friends that went when it was still Rothbury and they said it was incredible.
