Its not like Kragthorpe was a huge recruiter, and Stud brought in no pipeline. So its not like we will lose our recruiting base if those two left.

You don't think he's necessary in the first place.

Not so and never posted it.
What I have said is through all the different OCs, Miles is the common denominator in 4/5 top Os in LSU history.
Just because I don't post dumb shite about firing the staff after losing 1/2 the OL, doesn't mean I don't see room for another great mind. Let Studs get back to spending more quality time with the bigs.

I think Cameron would be a slam dunk acquisition by Miles, but the 2013 Tigers will be improved on offense with or without him.
The D concerns me and I hope Chavis can work his magic with a seemingly younger and younger bunch each year.

The unintended consequences of LSU selling its soul to becoming an NFL farm team. It will come back to bite us, sooner or later. Lacking seasoned leadership, a team has a built-in disadvantage when playing the biggies. Of course, that might also be true of many of the biggies, so it could even out. But... am old school and prefer LSU putting up its most seasoned players every year, the ones who have come up through the trenches and have real-time game experience.

What are you talking about???

Should LSU not play it's best players early if they're better than the older guys???

re: Is Cam Cameron a done deal?

I think there is at least a chance that this happens. I know for a fact that Cam met with Les right after the bowl game, during the first week of January.

There are many misperceptions when it comes to Cam Cameron. First, the meme that Ray Rice didn't get the ball is just a myth. Are there games when he possibly could have gotten more touches? Yes. However, there have been only about 60 times in NFL history that a running back has gained more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage. Five of those are LaDainian Tomlinson and Ray Rice. Even more telling, Ronnie Brown led the entire NFL in yards from scrimmage after seven weeks before tearing his ACL Cam's only year in Miami. His system is phenomenal for running backs.

I did a study of current NFL offensive coordinators and head coaches with offensive backgrounds using www.profootballreference.com. I used 15 different offensive categories and I looked at those coordinators with more than five years of experience as an OC. There were 37 offensive coordinators ranked. Cam finished ninth out of 37, one spot behind Tom Coughlin and one spot ahead of Mike McCarthy. Norv Turner was 20th and Jon Gruden was 23rd. Cameron ranked in the top 10 in 11 of the 15 categories. The only coordinators that had more top ten ranks were Joe Philbin (much shorter body of work and not even play caller in Green Bay) and Mike Shanahan. Gary Kubiak had 11 top 10s, and Sean Payton and Josh McDaniels 10 top 10s. Jon Gruden had ONE top ten rank. Payton had the highest overall average rank at 68 percent, while Cameron was at 63 percent. During his 11 years as OC or head coach, his offenses have been in the 82nd percentile in rushing touchdowns. His offenses have been in the 75th percentile in offensive giveaways.

One of the reasons Cam started to get so much heat in Baltimore is that they just couldn't get over the top. They were one dropped pass and a missed field goal away from going to the Super Bowl last year. Jim Caldwell came in and did a fantastic job replacing Cam. That can't be argued. Cam's finger prints were also all over that offense. They didn't gut the offense with three regular season games remaining. Also, the two coaches had one common opponent this year, which was the Patriots. The Ravens put up more than 500 yards, Flacco threw for 380 and three scores, and Ray Rice rushed for 100 yards the first time those two teams played this year.

The other big criticism that is thrown at him is that Drew Brees and Philip Rivers became elite after leaving Cameron. What people forget that Cam has had this type of production out of his offenses with starting quarterbacks that have averaged 3.2 years of NFL experience and 2.9 years of starting experience. Rivers and Cam were together for one year with Rivers as a starter, his first year starting in the NFL. He went to the Pro Bowl. Drew Brees went to the Pro Bowl in his third year with Cam. Brees's TD-INT radio was also slightly better his last two years in San Diego than in his first two years in New Orleans.

Also remember that his offenses at Indiana were very explosive. In his last season at IU they won at Wisconsin, 63-32. Randle El finished sixth in the Heisman voting and their running back, Levron Williams, led the entire country in all-purpose yards and averaged more than 7.0 yards per carry.

This video is a better video of Antwaan Randle El than the one that was posted earlier. He was an incredible college player but you'll get some indication of Cam's creativity at the college level.

Just know that I know. Also know that I have absolutely NO idea if there is any interest from either party.

Isn't it at least as likely that Les is picking Cameron's brain about the OC position as that he's trying to hire him?

he will fit in well with the big 10 offense Less prefers. baltimore had to get rid of him and his ray rice offense to win the super bowl. it's a good thing we already have our qbs signed andin school. i hope to hell he can recruit, but after being in the nfl, if he has those attributes it would be somewhat of a surprise. maybe his hiring will be just a rumor

re: Is Cam Cameron a done deal?

yes, I would say that's true. They are obviously good friends so I wouldn't necessarily make too much out of the meeting. According to George Whitfield's Twitter, Cam's been working in San Diego this week at George Whitfield's QB Academy.

re: Is Cam Cameron a done deal?

That's really the dichotomy. Most of the criticism came from him forcing too much of the offense through Flacco and not using Ray Rice enough. The irony is that it was that formula that won the Ravens the Super Bowl.

Not to mention that he is one of very very few people out there who Miles would see as an equal. They are very close and have coached together. This means leaving the play calling solely in his hands.

spit out the rest of the kool aid while there's still a chance for you. FIRED at the very end of the nfl season, during the playoff run, and probably champs because of it. did you not waatch the superbowl, and the playoffs leading up to it ? just about right. one of , if not the only one who knows as much as Less.

So do we have any plausible rumors on this yet? I do hope this happens. CC would be an upgrade from where we are at now.

Cheeser was Sean Payton not effectively fired by a team that would eventually win the Super Bowl? He seems to have worked out as a play caller.
