They are a very dishonest group I'm just looking for the unintended consequences of other religions being promoted by students. It's gonna be a riot!

Are the parents of these children not capable of prayer on the way to school? Does prayer have an expiration time or date?

I don't need the government state or federal to tell me when I can pray.

which it does not. The 1st Amendment prohibits "Congress" from the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion or impeding the free exercise of religion. The Mississippi House is NOT Congress. The misapplication of the "due process" clause of the 14th Amendment has been the basis for federal intervention into decisions rightfully left to the states. Time to turn the tide back to our founding principles.

From the article...
quote:
JACKSON, Miss. (KNOE 8 News & AP) - State lawmakers are advancing a measure meant to make it legal for students to pray before public school groups. House Bill 1112, sponsored by Rep. Mark Formby, a Picayune Republican, was approved unanimously Monday by the House Education Committee. It suggests naming events including morning announcements, football games and graduations as "limited public forums" choosing students to speak at each. The bill says schools can't punish students who pray, and sponsors say the aim is to promote such prayer. The bill bans teachers from penalizing students for expressing religious views in schoolwork. It requires allowing students to organize prayer groups and religious clubs and allowing outside religious groups to use school facilities in the same way as nonreligious groups. The bill goes to the House for more debate. .

I can't wait until the first student washes his feet and arms and pulls out the prayer rug. The local imam will be down there to replace the mcgruff presentations. Should be good.

The irony is that people who support this claim to want freedom of speech in public schools. I think you have to accept some limitations when you ask a government to manage your kids education. I long for the day when small private schools are the norm and people can send their kids to get whatever education they want.

Student-led prayers are conducted over the PA system during 1st period every day at my school. The school even observes National Prayer Day, where all students meet on the front lawn under the flag pole.
Sounds horrible. Are there any students there with a full set of chromosomes who can complain and stop this egregious practice? The harm must be irreparable. Somebody do something!!! For the children!
