Well we do have bigger problems. I'm not against it, I just don't care about it.

If we get our other shite straight then I'm all for approaching the issue. Yes, I do have low standards for congress. Until we get a plan for where we are going fiscally, I would rather not approach it. The economy effects everyone.

At what expense? These are people's rights and lives we're talking about. What's a greater priority than that? With a stoke of a pen, no less.

his is just another slap in the face to our Congress who cannot seem to ever do anything productive. These measures in France and England are happening through the national legislatures but here in America we always have to wait for the Supreme Court to handle it.

I see any time spent by our Congress on gay marriage as a complete waste of time. the only thing worse is when they have congressional hearings on sports issues.

and that pesky judicial branch I tell you

According to Gallup, 3.4 percent of the U.S. population is either gay or bi. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The economy effects us all. Let's focus on that before we get into social issues.

While I completely agree with you that our economy is a more important issue, I dont see how passing a gay marriage bill is going to detract from that.

I also dont have any faith that congress will be "fixing" our economy anytime soon. We can't just shut down all other issues until the economy is roaring again.

Are you comparing America to Europe using a gay marriage metric?

I personally would like to see the federal gov out of the marriage business altogether, which would make gay marriage a moot point. I heard Zimbabwe and Nigeria are moving towards that using a tribal warfare method...

If it were that easy then I would be all for it. You know it would be a long and drawn out process.

Very few Americans are affected by this at all. I think we should focus on issues that deal with all of us, like the economy. The repeal of DOMA can wait.

That's the only reason why I am not in favor of it right now. A fight over DOMA and the legalization of gay marriage will take longer than the battle over healthcare.

So lets just pass it and move on. Right now it's a big distraction. Pass it and it goes away.

It'll be a year-long fight in the House and Senate. It will tie up other more important projects. Healthcare was a big fight. The battle over gay marriage will be even bigger.

Why not wait until the steady march of socialism and progressivism finally takes care of the issue for us?

If the Republicans are willing to fight over this for a year, it must be important and effect more 97% of the people.

No thats not correct. Minorities have rights too. Its the responsibility of the majority to give equal rights to the minority.

Under your reasoning, we would probably still have segregation in America.

Please explain how expanding civil rights is a bad thing?

Because it's not an issue of rights, you idiotic, Orange bastard. When marriage is recognized by the government, it is recognized as a tool to preserve and expand the nation by creating more citizens. That's why governments attach all sorts of bonuses to marriage (tax breaks, hospital privileges, etc.). This is seen in the West going back to the fricking "Athenian Empire." Most of the homosexuals didn't even want marriage until the '70s when their groups were infiltrated by Soviet agents who thought that they could destroy the West by destroying marriage.

Why though? Why is this going to be a bigger fight than healthcare which DIRECTLY affects every American. Can you say that 2 gay men getting married directly affects every american? No. The entire fight is ignorant and a waste of time. Lawmakers spending tons of tax payer money on fighting this in courts should be ashamed of themselves.
