Big Alaskan breed dog ran a coon out on a log in Toledo Bend once. I thought for sure that dog was going to die. Nope, it was a draw. But dog got popped a few times

Our 20lb Cockapoo got attacked by coyotes in the middle of the night 3 years ago. They ripped out her throat and she had puncture wounds over most of her body. Somehow she made it back to her doghouse and lived until we found her and for her to the vet. You could see all thru her body from the hole in her throat but somehow she lived, after months of cleaning her wounds, and she is an amazing dog. The doc even suggested we put her down and not putting her down is hands down the best decision we have ever made since she was only one year old and after like 60 days she was as good as new....more loyal and loving than any dog. The point is if she could survive an attack by more than one coyote, according to the vet, I bet a lot of dogs could frick up a coon. BTW- Pet Insurance was a lifesaver. We took her into the vet every single day for over a month afterwards. It was still just almost $4000 with pet insurance but without it the bills would have been A LOT higher!

Had a 55 lb female pit bull take one out. Didn't have a scratch on her I couldn't believe it. She also caught 17 birds (that's just the ones I saw). That was one fast and strong bitch. Man I miss that dog.
its always the female dogs that are the killers. i used to have a female pit that was 45-50 pounds tops and she would kill all kinds of shite. coons, possums, birds, snakes, anything. she would leave the carcases on the back porch and come in the house smelling like a shithouse rat. my 85 pound male pit doesnt kill anything, ever; 0 kills in 4 years.

Had a 70 pound pit that would make short work of them. Big boy hated skunks, prob smelled like one 25 percent of his life.

I have a American bulldog female that would make short work of a coon . She gets possums and squirrels on the reg . Saw her try and bite an armadillo in half once . One bite a shake and it was over for him

My Labrador has killed two raccoons. Just straight up throttled both. No contest both times.

Rhodesian Ridge-backs are bred for hunting Lions. I'm guessing they could handle a raccoon...
