They are cut differently than regular bangs. Typically longer so you can swoop them to the side. A female swoop basically.

Straight bangs are when your hair is parted in the middle. If your part is to the side = side bangs.
ETA:
And they're cut to be blended in with the rest (like nurse said).

That was the day they were cut so of course I have not been able to perfectly replicate what my stylist did at the salon since then
She cut them a lil shorter when I went for a bang trim, I'm still figuring out ideal bang length for me.
