I was running close to 50 miles/week before I injured my knee. I haven't run in a month now.

I'm not sure what's wrong with it. It started hurting after a 23 mile run. Ever since then I've tried and can't even finish a 5K. I went to an orthopedic surgeon, he said the xray looked fine, that it's probably just inflammation and to rest and stretch. I tried 2 weeks off but it still hurt so I'm giving it a month. Actually it's been 3 weeks so I'll probably try to run next week.

I run about 10 miles a week plus the elliptical

I did. Finished my senior season this year. Focusing in on the mile and two mile for track now.

That is a bummer. I was worried that I had a meniscus tear last year around this time after a 50 mile race but over time my knee stopped bothering me. I still notice that it is stiff when I do try and stretch.
