Zero fricks....Wife still hasn't changed her last name. Cheaper for her not to any way.

First time around, I felt like it was an absolute.

Second marriage, IDGAF. Second wife decided to just tack a hyphen and my last name on to hers. I was fine with that.

I'm already married but it would have been a deal breaker had she not taken my last name.

I have been married for 16 yrs and failing to take my name would have been a deal breaker.

I have two buddies that we all call by their wives last name.
It's for one reason... Bc they are whipped little bitches.
It's gotta suck, I can't relate.

Same with this.
Some things you just do.

That's a huge deal to me. But honestly I couldn't tell you why it is.

Same here. I guess it's important to me because it's what you're supposed to do, that's just the way it is. Also I'd feel like a bitch if she didn't.

would have been a deal breaker and i let her know early on. anyways, the kind of girl i'm attracted to wouldn't be one to keep her own name.

It's not a big deal to me but I'm generally not attracted to the type of chick that wouldn't want to take her husbands name.

My strong default position is hell no that's not happening.

I'd leave a 0.01% chance of yes for outliers such as you described. But I see it as a sign that you her husband are temporary or, at the least, not set in stone.

The woman will take my last name. No if, ands, or buts about it. If she doesn't agree then we will not get married.

Even in the situation in the OP where she's the very last of the name? Just playing devils advocate

correct. our child's middle name could be her maiden name. or she could do like my wife did and drop her old middle name and take her maiden name as her new middle name.

also, even if she did keep the name she would be the last one to have it because any kid certainly would have my name.

"This is how committed to the marriage she was your honor, She wouldn't even take my last name. What does that tell you? She never had any intentions of upholding her wedding vows."

This could work.
