I am supposed to put together a new piece of furniture tonight after work, so I see a fight with the GF in the near future while I JB my phone instead of doing that hahaha
ETA: Also, putting this here to hopefully prevent some problems for people
Backup your device using iTunes (or iCloud) before using evasi0n. If something breaks, you'll always be able to recover your data.
Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
Avoid all iOS and iTunes related tasks until evasi0n is complete. Why not just enjoy a brief break from the computer to stretch your legs?
If the process gets stuck somewhere, it's safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.

After 2 years, I think I'm finally ready to jailbreak my ipad 2. I have a few questions if anyone wants to help out. Can I jailbreak if I just updated to the new ios? Will I have to re-install the apps I currently have? Is there anything else I should know before I move forward? I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to pc/android, but I'm not much of an apple guru.

the new jailbreak supports iOS 6.0 - 6.1 so you are good.

Nope, as long as you back up your phone to iTunes you won't lose anything. The GUI will guide you through the process and tell you what to do.

Absolutely make sure you have backed up your phone in iTunes before doing anything. That way if you mess up or if you want to go back to stock iOS and do away with jailbreak you will have something recent and good to go back to.
It also wouldn't hurt to check this out

We have a JB virgin!!
Go look at the first post of the thread and I have linked to Jailbreak QA, upgrade procedure steps, and any other useful info you should need. Once you download the software the GUI will guide you through the process. Make sure you are upgraded and you have a good backup before doing anything. That way if something messes up or you don't like it, you can restore back to the pre-jailbreak backup.

I'm not sure where all it will be available other than the official site. You can probably check these two places for any additional info.

EDIT: Looks like they went back and fixed the page. It still says final testing, but they changed it from 100% to 99%

Yeah it said 100% for a min and they fixed it and changed it to 99%. I noticed that once i refreshed again. 45 mins though till it is released.
