Of course, which is why New Orleans is the best host city.
This isn't about the city, it is about the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

I'd like to see a college national title game up there to let one of the northern teams host an SEC team in their own climate.
That would be okay

So I guess frick visitors for the college NCG game?

Have you ever been to the stadium in NY? It's in the middle of nowhere. Sucks as a location since you have to take a 30 minute bus ride (much longer with Super Bowl traffic) to get there. Just terrible. And then you have to sit in terrible traffic on the way back.
All kinds of this. I went to the Saints game in December, and it was miserable compared to a game in the dome.

I'm interested to see how it goes. There are a lot of variables that go into hosting a Super Bowl. Infrastructure: hotels, restaurants, etc. Only a few cities really have the capacity to deal with that many visitors. Clearly New York can do so easily (as can LA, Miami, New Orleans, etc). Attractions: Is there enough entertaining stuff to do in the days before the game? Again absolutely no problem for NYC. But will people be happy taking a trip to such a cold place instead of a more traditional warm weather venue? Game Venue: Does it hold enough people and is it "nice" enough? Pretty much all NFL venues are large enough, but it will be interesting to see how people who pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to attend a game like doing so in possibly sub-freezing temps. Also, how easy is it to get to and from the venue. This is where New Orleans really shines b/c the Super Dome is located where people can actually walk to it. Most NFL venues are in the middle of nowhere.

not really but ok, yea its cool to have the bars and everything and not a massive tailgating lot
The majority of people that cover and attend Super Bowls every year think it should be in New Orleans permanently. It's the only place where the entire city is walking distance. It was made to host big events.

Yeah but the game was indoors...there will be no escape from the cold weather in New Jersey.

Why do people want the Super Bowl to fail? Makes no sense. Want to be able to bitch just to bitch? If playoff games are played in cold weather, why should the next game be any different? Can't play the game in a vacuum.

they don't allow tailgating at the SB cochise, at least not like regular games.

the traffic is the only real problem with a NYC super bowl, everything else in place is perfect. For Giants/Jets games they run special trains and buses to the stadium from hooboken area for anyone who does not drive and set up their own tailagte

ive never heard that before, my steelers friends who went to both superbowls said they went all out for their tailgate, maybe it depends on the city.

Playoff games are hosted in the home stadium of one of the teams. Not a lot of people travel to a playoff game. The Super Bowl on the other hand is a huge destination and the game is part of a trip that people plan and spend a lot of money on. For a trip in winter, people like to go somewhere warm to escape from the cold. With New York, not only will the pre-game festivities be in the cold, but the actual game will be also. I'm just curious to see how people react to shelling out huge bucks and then sitting in uncomfortable weather. For what its worth I think it will be awesome to watch from the couch!

You do know Super Bowl festivities are more than just the day of the game partying, right?

You clearly don't mind the cold weather. That is cool. But I think you are in the minority opinion on that one. I think most people going to a big event in early February would prefer temps in the 70's if given the choice. No argument that NYC is an awesome city though. And from a fan perspective I think it is cool that they are switching it up on the venue...I just think there are a lot of people who won't like it.

or maybe they were set up outside of the stadium parking lots? Houston is set up for tailgating and they did not allow it, I've also heard for Saints fans that went to Miami and they said there was no tailgaiting.

This. New Orleans is the perfect SB venue. The City is built on welcoming large numbers of people. Every year NOLA invites 2+mill for 2 weeks. NOLA is a hospitality city. For the NFL getting as many people exposed to the NFL show during SB week is crucial. SB should be held in NOLA every time it coincides with Mardi Gras.

In my opinion, which I know is the minority, the pregame events, traffic, culture, whatever take a HUGE backseat to the game itself.

You got a link for that claim? I've never been to a Super Bowl, but I've been to several college bowl games, and New Orleans is definitely my favorite venue. But I still like the way the Super Bowl rotates. I think New Orleans should be in the regular rotation, but this is a nation wide event and I like that it is held in different parts of the country.
