Judging by Vikings forums, they're tired of hearing about New Orleans.

San Antonio is also a great city.

Im just saying it seems to me like they play up the New Orleans motifs more than when they go to other cities.
because you're from nola and you recognize the little things more. it's a perception bias it's not a criticism. somebody from miami will notice the little "miami" things when they go there more than you will because they have experienced it more. same with any city and its inhabitants

New orleans is a really cool city no doubt. I just don't know why when a major sporting event is there that New Orleans itself is the main storyline. We've all been there and have seen the feature stories many many times. It's just getting old.

San Antonio may be the worst "major" city I've ever been to when it comes to anything

That's different. Someone once said there are 3 unique cities in the US: NYC, San Francisco and New Orleans.

i don't think anybody is disagreeing with that. it has nothing to do with culture and everything to do with an amazing setup around the dome. nola is built to handle big events like this

Maybe they do so because of the uniqueness that is being dismissed by some in this thread?

what the hell is wrong with san antonio? just because it's hispanic culture doesn't mean that it's not culture these threads always love to dismiss hispanic culture as a big deal to these cities. i'll never get it
there is a reason it has never hosted a super bowl. im not laughing at the culture. but its a boring city with nothing to do.

because non hispanics cannot relate. Thats a pretty big deal when you try to pass that off as one of the attractions of the city.

They have one piece of history, which is quite boring. I've never heard anyone talk about San Antonio's food scene, and I'm not into Mexican culture. Have you been there? It's very boring

having no NFL team in its history and no real NFL stadium plays a part in that if san antonio got an NFL team and built a new stadium, they'd host a super bowl

i thought we were just talking about the cultures/histories/food of cities? as hispanics grow in population places like houston and san antonio are going to be seen as cultural places i do find it funny that people who love to talk about the "unique" culture of a place like nola love to dismiss different cultures that are unique to America in their own right

well you must define culture differently. the food is certainly a huge part of the culture in my eyes, as is the social landscape of the city. These are 2 of the biggest attractions. not just the "setup".

The reason is they do not have an NFL franchise. There is a reason there has not been a SB in greater Los Angeles in 20 years.

i don't think city planning counts in terms of culture, for a variety of reasons i'm not dismissing nola's setup. it's legit for major events. that's why so many conventions, events, etc go there nola has built up that area to host these things, and that's one of the few things the government and planning of nola has gotten right over the past 30-40 years. i'm not dismissing it at all

But there isn't anything unique about San Antonio's culture. It's just Mexican culture. You can find that in a million different cities around the country. If you like New Orleans culture, there is only one place in the world with it.

New Orleans is a very small "big" city. It lends itself well to events because everything is pretty close to the event itself (Dome, convention center, or parade routes). It is small enough that no matter where you are, you know that the super bowl is here.
