Kittyhawk is on the complete opposite side of the state. I assume the Wright Bros. is the inspiration for that. I'm not aware of there being any airlines based in Charlotte or the area being a manufacturing base for aviation.

They wanted to do this but the NBA nixed it. They don't want to open the pandora's box of corporate naming of pro sports teams and I couldn't agree more.

Trust me, before I moved to Oklahoma I thought the OKC Thunder was a boring, generic name for an NBA team. After living here, I've realized that the thunder during storms here are unlike the thunder in most other places. It's a legit name for this area, no doubt.
