I assume the Wright Bros. is the inspiration for that. I'm not aware of there being any airlines based in Charlotte or the area being a manufacturing base for aviation.

After living here, I've realized that the thunder during storms here are unlike the thunder in most other places. It's a legit name for this area, no doubt.
