Speaking of being attacked by a dog

Has anyone ever had a problem with their lab? I ran into a buddy at Mack'sPW a few weeks ago. There was a kid with them that had some nasty scratches on his face and stitches in his chin. As the story was told, kid was in the pit minding his own business, not messing with the dog at all, the lab tries to eat the kids face off. Bottom canine teeth buried deep top teeth scratched down the side of the face from about the eye down. If the top teeth would have buried it would have been bad bad news. I have seen some protective labs in my day but that is the first time I have ever heard of a lab just mauling someone.

Never had this experience with a lab, but have with a chessie. Chessie never bit anyone but would growl and his hair would stand up when someone he didn't know came to the camp.

I had a chessie that would act like he would eat your arse up if you came close to the truck or boat when he was in it. He was all bark though. If I was there he would lick you to death...

re: Speaking of being attacked by a dog

Both of my labs have gotten aggressive.

My black lab barks a lot and comes at people when they get near my driveway. Especially people who yell back or one guy came at her with his cane and started swinging it. But if you throw her a ball she is your best friend.

My yellow lab recently got real protective. My ex gf's aunt came up from behind her once and leaned over her, my lab jumped up and got in her face quick showing teeth and barking.
Second time, I was sick and had been in the bed, Pizza guy came by and my lab kept trying to stay in between me and him.
Third time I wasnt home, but a K-9 cop came by to buy a lawnmower and my lab supposedly pinned him against his car.

Its really strange though cause these dogs are super happy dogs and love kids whenever I am around them.

i have 2 labs now and we had 2 before these and they wouldnt harm a fly. but i guess it all depends on how you raise them. they were constantly getting loved on by me and my siblings (5 kids)

I wonder if that lab was an intact male lab?

My chocolate will bark in her deep bark when someone comes to the front door.

She will then promptly sniff them in the crotch once the door is opened.

Not sure, all I know is it was a younger male under two years. I talked to the guy that owned him. He said that he been socialized and made it through the fist half of the season without issue. He also said that the dog was good as gone. He was sick about it.

It was probably a black lab, the lighter the color the more sofisticated they seem to be. the black ones are hoodlums

Even though some breeds are more aggressive than others, it's still the OWNERS responsibility to train their dog to be obedient, any dog can get out of control if not properly trained, and it's ALWAYS the owners fault for any harm it does to anyone.

My lab bite my son twice. She got her arse beat severly the second time. And that fixed the problem. Second time she got him close to his eye, he was not messing with her at all. She almost got a bullet that night, but she got a severe arse whipping. that was about 3 years ago and have not had a problem since.
