Not too bad? All we heard for years and years was that we needed to add 250k jobs a month in order to just keep up with population growth/dropouts... We haven't even come close to that number consistently, yet the unemployment rate dropped... Why? BC people are leaving the workforce and going onto the government teet

The ho-hum jobs numbers for January were accompanied by substantial revisions higher for previous months, according to the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. November's numbers rose from the originally reported 161,000 to 247,000, while December was pushed upward to 196,000 from 155,000.

However, a separate unemployment measure that also takes into account those who have quit looking for jobs as well as those working part-time for economic reasons remained unchanged at 14.4 percent.
This is the important part.

Wonder what the narrative would be if a Republican were president, and we had 7.8% unemployment (and rising)? "Not too bad" doesn't seem too likely.

The F'ing media reported that as fact for many years, so you must have pulled a Rip Van Winkle for quite some time to say you never heard about it.

Then you've been living in a hole... Its been talked about multiple times on the news... I misspoke in regards to the 250k, that was the estimates in order to keep up with population, drop outs, etc... Population grown is between 90k-160k depending on what source you read.
