| The lease question (Posted on 1/31/13 at 2:34 pm)
I am looking at the LSU Agcenter summary, and it shows that hunting leases in Louisiana go for around $10 an acre. That seems low. what do y'all pay for yours?

That's low, if u do find something for that price, it'll more than likely be horrible huntin.

What parish is that in? I'd climb hills for that price!

And I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Wow. That number is high where I am at. I lease some from a private landowner for $3/acre and some from a timber company for $5/acre in bossier parish (lots of deer but few mature bucks). I only pay $8/acre for my lease in the hill country of Texas and the hunting is pretty damn good there. Lots of deer (good mature deer are around 125-140) and turkey, camp house with water and electricity.

You'd pay 35 an acre minimum for that here

I'm paying from .50-12 an acre in the marsh. No water, electricity and boat only access. Got some buddies hunting north of Baton Rouge paying 43.

No I wouldn't. Couldn't spend that kinda money. Can't understand anyone paying that. If you lease a small 150 acre tract it would cost over 5k without stands or improvements. You could go on two fully guided whitetail hunts with a good shot at killing a 130-150 deer for that price. And have no worries. No building stands, putting up posted signs ect. Plus, you wouldn't be hunting the same 150 acres over and over. Can someone explain.

I know of a section in central LA that went for 55k. 55000/640=85.93/acre. I hear they may have a lodge that was on a lake up until this week available too.
