| Les Miles absent from ESPN list of top recruiters (Posted on 1/31/13 at 2:40 pm)
ESPN hates LSU If there was ever proof of ESPN's hate of LSU , a poll of the top college recruiters that does not include LSU says it all.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban is No. 1, followed by Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Baylor's Art Briles, Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin and Clemson's Dabo Swinney Then on to Vanderbilt's James Franklin, Florida's Will Muschamp, USC's Lane Kiffin, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly and finally, Stanford's David Shaw rounds out the top 10

But wait, there's an honorable mention category. Surely a coach that's won a BCS National Championship and had his team play in another, all while winning SEC championships, sustaining a winning program and sending about as much talent to the NFL as any coach in the country -- including the man who sits atop these rankings -- deserves an honorable mention. Right? Well, the answer, according to ESPN's Travis Haney: No.

Yes the final insult was that LSU ( Miles) was not even given the sliver of respect of being an honorable mention.

The author is clearly attempting to troll TD with this. There is no other explanation.

Kiffin might be the best recruiter in the bunch. Luckily for the college football world he can't coach for shite.

LSU is bigger than a coach, LSU is the only BCS champion by 2 coaches

The bigger tragedy is Frank Wilson being left off the list. He's superior to everyone in the nation except Saban.

In reading Travis Haney's background, you would expect him to have Dabo in the top ten, since he covered Clemson, and since he covered Oklahoma for one season......hmmm - maybe some anti-Miles bias? But how he could not have a coach who has had a Top Ten recruiting year every year but two since 2005, and indeed has had several Top 5 classes, can only be personal bias in my opinion. His list amounts to a steaming pile of skunk shite to me.... Travis Haney Travis Haney joined ESPN in April 2012 as Insider's national college football writer. He previously covered the University of Oklahoma Sooners for The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman for one season, and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks for The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier for four. Additionally, Haney has contributed since 2003 to ESPN publications and projects, including ESPN The Magazine. A native of Cleveland, Tenn., Haney's initial introduction to a college football cathedral was Neyland Stadium. He later graduated from the University of Tennessee, in 2003, and has spent time covering the Volunteers, the University of Georgia, Clemson University, and other schools. Safe to say, football, and football in the South, was injected into his bloodstream at a young age. Haney is the author of three books -- Gamecock Glory and Gamecock Encore, which chronicled the South Carolina baseball team's run to the 2010 and 2011 national championships, and State of Disunion, a historical look at the Clemson-South Carolina football rivalry that he co-wrote with Larry Williams. Haney resides in Charlotte, N.C. You can follow him on Twitter here.

It is funny how many first year coaches are on the list. First year at their current schools. Sumlin? Come on.

it's for head coaches only. and as some of the comments note, Jimbo should be on there somewhere too.

Does anyone find it ironic that ESPN has a commercial showing Les a major recruiter?

I made a list of good writers. Oddly, ESPN's Travis Haney is nowhere on it.
