I have a friend that's a local judge, he's allowed to carry. Has his piece on his bench in a case that looks like a day planner. They cover it in 'baby judge school'.
And from looking at the Texas Penal Code, ADA's are allowed to carry anywhere they want in Texas.
Texas Penal Code you want to look around 46.15.

They do, or can, in Alabama. My sister-in-law was one and when she was sworn in they issued her an officer of the court type badge and 5-shot .38 revolver, S&W Airweight, I believe.

Friend of mine in HS's dad is a Judge. Couldn't tell you how many times I'd go to her house and there was an unmarked car sitting out front of the house for protection.

And this is why I stay out of criminal law even though the cases are probably the best/most interesting cases to be involved in regarding law.
You just can't make up half the shite that happens in real life. Very entertaining, until you get shot of course.

My dad was a DA for many years. He says he tried to treat everyone he dealt with like a human being, with a certain level of dignity and respect, no matter what they may have done. He did his job to the best of his ability, but he didn't take it personally, and because of that, the people he was prosecuting usually didn't take it personally.
Of course there's always the 1%, but you get that in any line of work. Somebody on the losing end of a civil case may decide to even the score, too.
