Absolutely correct. Black market=control by violence. Nothing new here.

So obvious... everybody seems to agree... so why does this stupid, counterproductive, expensive, bloody "war on drugs" continue?

So if the black market in drugs (which are both illegal and widely available) has only led to more violence, what will banning guns create?

Exactly. Law enforcement, the DEA and these new private jailhouses want the money from these "convictions" plus the states get a lot of money from possession charges and misdemeanors they dont want to end the revenue stream, its not about actual "safety"

Good luck with that. I've argued this and feel like most of the population just doesn't get it. 30 years from now we will look back on drug prohibition like we do the prohibition of alcohol a century ago. Still will take a decade or two for some people to come to their senses.

And as I predict in my previous thread linked above, the republicans (who ideologically should be championing the end to the WOD) will balk on it and reject it. 15-20 years from now the dems will champion it, and succeed. I will literally be shocked if something other than this happens.

I think this is one of the problems younger generations will solve I just don't expect people who are 25 years old now to be dumb enough as politicians to keep up this fight But then again, there isn't any excuse at all for the current crop of politicians to be this stupid but they are.

But it's so much easier to bitch about high capacity magazines and assault weapons.

Wish we could take one sample area--like a Camden or Detroit--and use it as a test study for the legalization of drugs in the U.S. What more harm could come of it?

Probably. The only way it would change is if you see some massive switch from LEO's (Because of unions) jumping behind the DEM party, and some people start making the connection.

If you want the war on drugs ended then that means that millions of hardworking Americans will lose their jobs. You don't want millions of Americans to become unemployed do you?
