The worst Man U team in a while is running away with the league. City is average, Chelsea sucks, Arsenal sucks, Liverpool sucks, Spurs is nothing special. Everton and I guess Man U are the only team performing to an average or above standard.
How can the entire league be so down?

FFP IMO
Also it just so happens a few teams are simultaneously hitting transition phases. Ex: Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool.

I don't think this is the worst Man U team in a while. They don't have good wingers, but they seem to do alright. Defense is a bit questionable at times, but they still usually get the 3 points.

They don't have good wingers the center of the midfield is average and the defense is probably the worst of the Fergie era which spans a pretty long time. I'll give them credit for finding ways to get wins but I also attribute it to how poor the rest of the league is.

The smaller teams are getting better. Other leagues are getting better. These things are cyclical.

I think the mid-level teams are just getting better and are able to draw the top tier teams a bit more easily.

Ok, let me clarify.
They don't have wingers who are playing well this season.
Also, Welbeck is not a winger any more than Chicharito is.
