Last home run hit in the Old Box by Buzzy Haydel. I think Blake Dean hit the first one out of the new Box.

Wow, a Jamin Garidel reference in the "Favorite Memory in the Old Alex Box Stadium" thread. Two things I thought I would never hear. Mine would have to be seeing Jim Bowie hit a bomb out to Right Field in the rain that was still rising as it went over the light pole.

It was only in reference to the beatings we laid on Southern in the 90s.

Ding ding ding. Remember Jeffrey Garidel. That dude was awful and made it at LSU. At least for a little while. Couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper bag and yet was switch hitter. Always boggled my mind.

I used to see this guy in the walkways behind home plate and he would call pitches like the ump...like signaling strike or ball or whatever. Well then he would give the count like the ump. He would stick both hands up and have like 4 fingers on one hand and 3 on the other.

The GT game is such a vivid baseball memory that it's hard for me to pick another.

1) Rich Cordoni homerun - 1990 vs USC 2) LSU UGA series when we clinched SEC - can't remember what year but think it was late 80's 3) UCI Irvine - game 2

So many good memories. I grew up with LSU baseball in the late 1990s and early 2000s. I remember racing to wait behind the outfield wall during super regionals so I could climb up, lean over, and get a good position for the "victory lap". The best memory has to be that last series versus UC Irvine. The 9th inning in Game 2 was magical.

You had to be there to believe it. It wasn't the length of that homerun but the speed it got out of the park. The 3rd best Homerun I have ever seen. My best Alex Box memory is easy...I hit my only OUT OF THE PARK homerun at the old Alex Box...summer league High school ball.

I've only been to one game....a shame really, I know. But it's a pretty important game. April 19th, 2008 against Georgia. The Tigers were 23-15 (6-10) going into the game, and it looked to be a pretty bad season. Most of the game was pretty terrible. Going into the bottom of the 8th, we were down 8-1. Dad wasn't too happy because he wanted to bring his kids to watch the Tigers win during their last year in Old Alex Box. However, while I was only there for one game, I witnessed the magic of Alex Box. A seven run eighth inning tied it up! I've been to several Astros and other pro baseball games before, but that was definitely the most exciting atmosphere for baseball I've ever been a part of. We ended up losing after Georgia scored in the ninth, but something special happened. The next day, LSU and Georgia tied 10-10, and LSU never lost in Alex Box Stadium again until Game 1 of the Super Regionals. So I was there for the last regular season loss in Alex Box ETA: just looked it up, and apparently the actual attendance was 3,766, so I may have exaggerated the atmosphere in my mind . It was still the most exciting baseball game I've ever been to at the time, though.

1990 Georgia had the best team in the country, and all the Dawgs needed to clinch an SEC title was a single win in Alex Box. Their asses got swept. LSU takes the first of 4 straight SEC titles. UGA takes the national title in Omaha. It was the only time a non-LSU team from the SEC had won the CWS (Alabama, Arkie, & SCAR, had all been runners-up before), and remained so until the Gamecocks did it in 2010 & 2011. LSU just seemed to have terrible luck in Omaha in 1986, 1987, 1989, & 1990. Could have won it all in any of those years really ... unless you discount '87 for all the crazy Joey Belle shenanigans. Eventually though, the "visualization" procedures paid off!

I attended a lot of really cool games and series after Bertman got there, but: In 1975 or so, when I was a student at LSU often I would find an out-of-the way place in the Library or some other building to spread out and study. Sometimes when the weather was nice and the wind was not blowing I would stake out a spot somewhere outside maybe under a tree or something. Once I decided to get in my car and drive and I ended up going down South Stadium Drive across Nicholson and noticed a few cars around Alex Box and the gates were open. So I parked in a spot next to the gate, got out and noticed I could hear the sound of a ball hitting a bat and realized there was a game or practice going on. It was real quiet so I figured this would be a good place to spread out and study. It was so I did. Right up there in the Grandstand on the first base side. No one was within 75 feet of me. All during an LSU SEC baseball game. There were maybe 50 people there - maybe. Not so many years later after Skip got the fans all worked up about LSU baseball I could hardly believe this cool story bro' myself.

Probably the last series with Irvine, but I also remember the coemback wins over USC, ECU, and USA. Overall, anytime we beat Alashama and Onelane in the Box, I enjoyed it immensely, as I still do with tne new one. And that goes for every sport.

As I mentioned earlier, I had season tickets for about 10-11 years. We had season tickets the last year in the Box. Unfortunately that was my senior year at LSU and I got an internship the summer of 2008. Seems like 90% of the people in here favorite memory are the UCI games, I missed them. Only regional/super regional I missed the entire time we had season tickets.
