| TV purchase help (Posted on 1/29/13 at 10:47 pm)
I think I have narrowed it down to the Samsung PN64E700 and the Panasonic TC-P65VT50. Was wondering if anyone had either or have experience with either or both. Any input is appreciated. I know most on this board usually go with Samsung but both seem to have great reviews everywhere I have looked and haven't seen anything negative on either. Both seem to be the best of the 65" TV's in their price class.

Personally I would go with the LG if that's the one that has better reviews

This is pretty much one of the best TV's you can buy right now. I would recommend saving some money and getting the GT50 though since its pretty much the same TV without a fancy remote and an extra filter. Bottom line is that you are comparing two plasma TV's and one of which is far and away the best plasma on the market. Samsung is more known for its LED line not plasma.

The panasonic VT is the flagship of plasma. The new models will be coming out soon, so you should be able to get a good price on the VT. If you're thinking about the GT instead of the VT, then look at the ST. With some calibration tweeks, the ST can look just as good as the GT and cost cheaper, but can't touch the VT.

The Panasonic plasma is not only the best plasma out there, but the best TV dollar for dollar.

What do you do on the TV the most? Movies? Gaming? Sports? I was hell bent on Samsung, action audio showed me every highend option at the 65 insh size that I wanted. The Sony was the best quality for me. I have alot of windows in my house. They suggested an LED. Ive had it for about 9 months now and love it. And from what Ive heard Sony customer service is wayyyy better than Samsung. 64.5" (diag) XBR HX950 Internet TV

If you want plasma, you can't really go long with Panasonic

Pretty much everything. Watch Football all weekend during football season. Play some Xbox from time to time COD and Halo. Then also watch my shows throughout the week. Wouldn't really have a specialized use. Seems like the Pannosonic is the way to go based on this thread. I'll be buying it in about a month so not sure if the Samsung deal that was posted will still be going on.

If you MUST go with an LED, Sharp Elite FTMFW. The Sony 950 is a nice 2nd place, though. But the only reason to go that route is if you're putting the TV in a freaking sun room. Otherwise? Plasma is the only way to go. It infuriates me to hear all the ignorant people out there who knock it just cuz their buddy told them they suck. (I'm a Panasonic owner BTW)
