Petit Jean Mtn. LINK It's also close enough to Little Rock if you want to spend a night slumming it.

There's so many awesome places. If you want top end lodging, try the state park at Magazine Mtn. The drought has NW Arkansas lakes and rivers pretty dry, I'm not sure how Greers Ferry or the lakes around Hot Springs are right now. I think I'd pick somewhere around Lake Ouchita or De Gray Lake. Oaklawn is in session right now through April, go get a corned beef sammich and play the ponies one of the days. Hot Springs isn't exactly special when the horses aren't running. Mtn. View has some huge caverns and hiking trails and tons of folk music. If you like to fish, maybe closer to the little Red, or hit up Gastons for a guided trip. If you like to shoot coyotes you can camp on our land by the creek and hike in the hills and climb the bluffs and kill as many of those frickers as you can. With the neighbors included we took 34 last spring, and they're back just as thick again. If Mtn biking is your main thing then this site has tons of info. LINK Enjoy Arkansas! and don't trash our state please. We're not LSU's campus.

In Washington county we have the community service people do it, and they bring out jailbirds to get time reduced by picking up trash on the road. Benton county doesn't and they've got shite strewn all over the roads, they like to keep their prisoners there as long as possible.

Big Piney around Russelville. If you want scenery, run the Buffalo or the Eleven Points, but canoe them, don't raft them. Trying to raft those would suck.

If you want to mountain bike, the womble trail is for you! LINK There are lots of great cabins in the area to choose from especially on the Ouachita river. There are also some nice hiking trails in the area. If I were going to bike that is where I'd go.

Wife's aunt has a cabin on Nebo. Can't say the place appeals to me much. Did stay at Beaver Dam Lake for spring break 99. It was OK. Caught some fish.

i never rented a cabin the buffalo i've only camped, let me ask around and i'll bump this thread later. just make sure you are on the upper part of the buffalo, if you get on the lower part it's really really slow go, the river is wide and slow it's no fun and you'll be paddling for miles. LINK i would rent a cabin from a company and not private owner on the buffalo, it's sucluded so i don't think any private places would be right on the river.

there are alot of nice pretty places to go in arkansas for day trips if you live here, but honestly i wouldn't travel here to see anything but the buffalo it can be really awesome. go when it's fall or spring it's dead looking right now with no foliage. you really feel like you are deep in nature. none of these other places are enough to warrant 2-3 days but the buffalo you can explore easy 2-3 days, i hear that zip line is cool, you can horseback ride too there which is fun.
