No date, just went out. Got too drunk...can't pound em like I used to, guess it's from losing all that weight. Probably gonna stick to beer from now on.

Didn't even get a chance at a hangover. We had just gotten in from Waffle House, probably 0330. Work calls at about 4, I had to go in. From there it was lots of water and some naproxen, and DWI. I was loopy all day.

What's looking up? The world goes topsy-turvy and you lose track of which way's up and which way's down... You think you're heading in the right direction and all of a sudden another blow comes in and you're turned around. But time heals all, so they say, and at least I've got my feet on solid ground.

No, they called me in. I was supposed to be off. No one else could work it, and I was the dumbass that answered my phone at 0400.

I guess that's how the saying goes; some things I'm not so sure about though. I swear I've been feeling the same feelings for what seems like years now. Anytime things start to seem better I'm instantly put back in my place and reminded of the gravity of what's real. Wish I was so lucky as to say I'm grounded but hey, I'm still here, and quite frankly when I look at it like that I realize things could be a lot worse.

I'll be happy when I can find something that really makes me feel alive again. Something that puts wind in my sails, and gets me out of these cursed doldrums. It's being adrift that'll wear a man down. The storms he can weather, the gusts he can harness... But when the wind dies...aye, then it's the shallows that get him, stuck on the shoals. When the wind is gone, that's when a man needs oars.

This may sound silly but it's always worked for me.I probably made this up when i was about 10 and have done it ever since. It's similar to counting sheep but without the sheep. I lay in bed and close my eyes and count "one thousand, two thousand, three thousand," when I get to ten (thousand) I start back over at one thousand I sync my breathing up with it so that I breathe in "one" (or two ect, whichever number I'm on) and breathe out on the "thousand".After I go from one to ten ( thousand) about 5 or 6 times my breathing and in turn my counting starts slowing down and I fall asleep soon after. If I'm doing this and some thought enters my head and interrupts me, instead of following the thought I start back over counting. If I don't do this I stay awake thinking all night.

Maybe. I've found lately that leaving a lamp on actually helps me sleep better. It's not out of a fear of the dark or anything. I notice that when I turn off all lights it literally leaves me with nothing but my thoughts and then they just go ape shite. But if I leave a lamp on I feel more like you do when you hop into bed for an afternoon nap or something and find it easier to doze off.
I'm glad someone else is doing this. Lately, I find it hard to sleep unless my lamp is on.

You alone now too? Yeah, that's what gets me. Coming home (Home? hah. Who am I kidding. It's walls and furniture, nothing more), to no one and nothing, that's the cruel bitch of it. The silence is deafening at times

Sometimes a man thinks he's building a castle. Only it turns out he's built himself a prison. Better to let the walls crumble and taste the freedom of open fields. When there's nothing to come home to, what's the point of coming home?
