| What keeps you up at night? (Posted on 1/30/13 at 12:14 am)
I go through the day with no worries, but I lay down at night and so much shite goes through my mind that I can't fall asleep. Is that weird?

I'm like that, only my mind is spinning all day too. The part that really pisses me off is I can be physically tired but completely alert mentally. Or worse still, I'll start to feel physically and mentally sleepy so I think maybe I'll be able to fall asleep. I swear, my bed acts like a freaking battery charger for me. I'll literally lay down and instead of dozing off I start getting more alert, more awake, hell even more energized. And it's definitely a unique thing because when it happens I'll get up and go sit in my chair or at the computer and start getting sleepy again. Lay back down and, sure enough, I'm awake again. I think my bed is pumping caffeine into me through osmosis or something and trolling the hell out of me.

I have a theory that, once you become accustomed to the night, become a restless wanderer in the wee hours, it changes you. Perhaps it has something to do with the moon...or the quiet...or the darkness. But something calls to us, those who wander past midnight.

Maybe if you wouldn't do this:
quote:
go through the day with no worries
then this:
quote:
I lay down at night and so much shite goes through my mind that I can't fall asleep
wouldn't happen?

My head starts running a mile a minute as soon as my head hits the pillow. Job, school, family, life in general. It gets rather annoying when it happens on a nightly basis.

Maybe. I've found lately that leaving a lamp on actually helps me sleep better. It's not out of a fear of the dark or anything. I notice that when I turn off all lights it literally leaves me with nothing but my thoughts and then they just go ape shite. But if I leave a lamp on I feel more like you do when you hop into bed for an afternoon nap or something and find it easier to doze off. I usually have some low music playing too.

there is just something about being awake while 75% of the world is asleep and then sleeping while the rest of the world is at work. I still find it hard to sleep while the sun is up and work while the moon is out.

I've been doing this my whole life, it only gets worse the more people you have depending on you on a day to day basis.

Drink a shite ton of caffeine, take some Primatene for the ephedrine, go run a bit and you won't have to "worry" about worrying, you'll experience all the same side effects and then you'll sleep like a baby after downing a lot of bourbon when you get home that night.
