Jerry Rice played about 3 or 4 years too many IMO He compiled stats by staying in the league too long
Doesn't matter...Rice could have retired 3 or 4 years earlier, and there would still be no better. Always a threat to score, and being a receiver, that was pretty incredible... Moss had more talent, but that means nothing- Rice showed the ability every play, every game & every season...Moss was always hit or miss...

Rice also played in vastly superior offenses.
Oh really? With the exception of Moss' two seasons with the Raiders, they played on very similar offenses, numbers wise To illustrate my point, just compare them during their first 12 years in the league. **I stopped at 12 because Moss played for 3 different teams in his 13th season. Here are the total offensive yards for each of the offenses they played on each season Moss 1998: 6,624 yards 1999: 5,793 yards 2000: 5,961 yards 2001: 5,185 yards 2002: 6,192 yards 2003: 6,294 yards 2004: 6,339 yards 2005: 4,951 yards 2006: 3,939 yards 2007: 6,580 yards 2008: 5,847 yards 2009: 6,347 yards Average: 5,838 yards Take out those two Raider years, and the offenses he played on averaged 6,116 yards per season Rice 1985: 5,920 yards 1986: 6,082 yards 1987: 5,987 yards 1988: 5,900 yards 1989: 6,268 yards 1990: 5,895 yards 1991: 5,858 yards 1992: 6,195 yards 1993: 6,435 yards 1994: 6,060 yards 1995: 6,087 yards 1996: 5,506 yards Average: 6,016 yards

I'd like to see comparison numbers on long TD catches. I bet Jerry Rice wins that head to head too.

There is nothing Moss brings to the table that Rice did not. Rice unlike Moss however, did not take plays off and was a great down field blocker.
Amen! Rice was by far the more complete reciever.

Anyone agreeing with Moss has no idea what the frick they are talking about. Rice is clearly the greatest, there is no debate, end of story. Its comical this idiot said this and its more comical that some of yall agree with him.

Randy Moss must have been asked "Are you still getting high?" when he answered he is the GOAT. Because that is the only way his answer makes any sense. Jerry Rice is the GOAT at any offensive position, and it isn't even close. Compare his numbers to numbers to his contemporaries, guys playing with the same rules and referees interpreting the rules, and he was without peer. His single season records are being eclipsed, but his average seasons were better than anyone else, and I'd bet the standard deviation per season was lower than anyone else despite his longevcity. As for the argument that Rice played with better QB's, how come every time great QB's get discussed I hear people claim Montana and Young were only so good because they had Jerry Rice to throw to? Rice continued to put up superior numbers after he stopped playing with Montana and Young despite being the number 2 target behind Terrell Owens and Tim Brown. And the one season Rice was out with an injury the 49ers finished 12th in the league in offensive yards. The season prior they finished 6th and the season after they finished 1st.

I'm assuming anyone who thinks Moss is the GOAT clearly is not old enough to have seen Jerry Rice play. Moss is/was more talented, but Rice has dwarfed him in every way in terms of actually demonstrating it on the field

Career playoff numbers: .............REC...YARDS....AVG....TD Moss......52.......936........18.0.....10 Rice......151....2,245........14.9.....22 Jerry Rice in the Super Bowl REC...YARDS....AVG....TD ..11.......215.........19.6......1 ....7.......148.........21.1......3 ..10.......149.........14.9......3 ....5.........77.........15.4......1 Randy Moss in the Super Bowl REC...YARDS....AVG....TD ....5.........62.........12.4......1 So Jerry Rice's worst Super Bowl performance, as a 40 year old receiver, was better than Moss' sole Super Bowl appearance. And Moss' Super Bowl came in the same year he caught almost 100 passes, 1,500 yards and 23 TDs. In fact, just look at what Moss did during that entire playoff run that year. He didn't do shite. Caught 7 total passes for less than 100 yards in 3 games. Dude disappeared

To which @JerryRice just responded, "Put my numbers up against his numbers."
Moss stats per year with Minnesota and New England (12 years) 77 receptions 1206 yards 12 TDs Rice stats per year with San Francisco, not counting the year he only played 2 games. (15 years) 83 receptions 1278 yards 12 TDs It's close, but the edge goes to Rice IMO. Looking at what SPEEDY posted...

.............REC...YARDS....AVG....TD Moss......52.......936........18.0.....10 Rice......151....2,245........14.9.....22 Jerry Rice in the Super Bowl REC...YARDS....AVG....TD ..11.......215.........19.6......1 ....7.......148.........21.1......3 ..10.......149.........14.9......3 ....5.........77.........15.4......1 Randy Moss in the Super Bowl REC...YARDS....AVG....TD ....5.........62.........12.4......1
Now the gap is much wider.

I would go as far as saying Not only is rice GOAT, Herman Moore in his prime, as well as Tim Brown, and Chris Carter would be ranked over randy moss. Yes, Moss was great... but he should of shut his whore mouth and played football every down instead of quitting. Teams knew if you knocked the hell out of Moss early, he wouldn't be a threat later. Even people like Champ Bailey and Revis came out and said that one year.

Herman Moore had that athletic grace and was a real threat for the deep pass. He was a great wide reciever. People tend to forget him due to Barry Sanders, but Moore did everything without a good QB as well. Something people tried to say hurt Moss.
