None of that makes him more than an above average QB. His 1966-68 seasons were great, but everything else hovered around average.

That's the whole point

Namath was great for a few seasons -- all I've ever said

Is the psychopathic hatred for Namath on here b/c he went to Alabama?

Or jelly b/c he got so much pussy?

Using stats to compare QBs across eras is horrible.

Something like 14 of the top 20 QB ratings are from QBs who played after 1992.

But Namath doesn't really have great stats for his own era. Even his SB III MVP - completed 17 of 28 passes for 206 yards - seem pretty pedestrian.

Regardless, the people who saw him play say he was great before he became hobbled. Al Davis said when he threw the ball, it was like he was playing downhill.

And I'll take their word for it. Hell…even after he became hobbled the guy could still throw the ball. In '72 he and Johnny Unitas got into a passing duel when the Jets traveled to play the Colts. They both combined for nearly 900 passing yards with Namath throwing for 496 and 6 touchdowns.

re: Worst Quarterback to Win a Super Bowl?
Namath might be overrated but he's not anywhere near the worst QB to win a Super Bowl. Dilfer has got to be at the bottom of the list. Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler, Doug Williams, and Mark Rypien all had very solid performances in the Super Bowl. Dilfer was 12-25 for 153 yards against the Giants in Super Bowl 35. He was mediocre in the Super Bowl, playoffs and regular season and he did nothing of note after winning the Super Bowl even though he was only 28 years old and in the prime of his career when he won it. Dilfer is easily the worst starting QB to win a Super Bowl.

If it was worst performance, Rapelisburger would have to be high on that list.

If it's just about the actual position, I think it would have to be douche Dilfer.
