| The Art of Shaving Store UPDATED 2/13/13 (Posted on 1/27/13 at 7:18 pm)
What exactly are your thoughts on this place? Walked by it a bit earlier- thought it seemed like a pretty cool joint. How are their products, etc? Been thinking for a long time about making the jump to a safety razor. Straight edge kind of makes me nervous

There are a lot better places online. Check out Badger & Blade forums. I use a double blade cartridge because you can't take a safety razor on an airplane.

Pretty cool store, I got the "starter set" after I used that up, I ended up just gettin the shavin soap, didn't really think pre/post shave stuff was worth it.

Just looked them up. Their prices are absurd. I use to use a safety razor. Started with an antique, then found an exact replica online. TBH, I started using the triple edge disposals after the tornado and they work just as well and don't nick my face half as much. I've always wanted to try a straight razor, but I wouldn't get what they offer. You can get a Schick Injector and not have to worry about using a strop.

I looked at their stuff online and it seems pretty high class. I'm sure you can get better prices online but its kind of cool having a place like that down the road. They are expensive though but I guess it's quality

It's really not as good as you can get from traditional brands. A Merkur razor will be better than their brand. The same goes for everything they sell. Only advantage is having a store to go to.

I get really bad razor burn. I paid $120 for their full set. I now get a much closer shave and I do not have to shave every day and the razor burn is next to none. I love it and the shaving cream has lasted me 6 months and I'm still not evn half way through with it.

There has to be a price point where you save money. It seems where you spend money at though is the shaving kits. $115 seems steep but I guess it's high class stuff. Would make a nice gift set I think.

Very thick black haired beard. I used to have to trim before shaving so I didn't take skin off. I didn't want the shite originally my fiancé convinced me to buy it and I'm glad I did.

I made the transition to an Edwin Jagger safety razor a few weeks ago. Should have done it years ago, much better shave

You'd fit right in in that kinda place, CR. Also, there's a thread on this once a week.

$115 seems ridiculous. You can get a high quality safety razor, badger brush, shaving soap, and a bowl on Amazon for about $65-$75
