This thread inspired me today to get off the couch and go on a bike ride with my dog. Thanks. I needed that
That's awesome. It would be cool if the admins could sticky it and people could continually post awesome/positive stuff they find in it so there's always a little good/encouraging stuff to read when coming over to the OT.

I have a soft spot for animals, I love this story... They say a dog is a man's best friend, but to John Unger, a Wisconsin resident, his dog, Schoep, means everything. Unger adopted Schoep, named after the famous Wisconsin ice cream, when he was just a puppy, and the two have been together ever since. Now, at 19 years old, Schoep has arthritis and has trouble sleeping, the Pioneer Press reports. Unger found that water is therapeutic for his pained buddy, so he takes Schoep into Lake Superior and lulls him to sleep.
There is a happy update about Schoep LINK
quote:
“Fantastic day today. Five-six inches of new snow, 17 deg.f. and Schoep is on fire. Very quick and happy, he did not want to come in! Moderation is key with him, he cannot over do it. Rest and we will go out again tonight. Hope your day is just as good – John”

DII softball player hits her first career home run, but tears her ACL running the bases. The umpire ruled it would not be a home run if she couldn't make it to home plate herself, or if she was assisted by her teammates. Opposing players then asked the umpire if it was against the rules if THEY carried her. It was OK.

There ya go. People post whatever you got, whatever makes you think that perhaps this world does not suck after all. I requested a sticky because like another poster said I, too, can use the positive stories personally right now. If you like the content/thread, request a sticky.

I'd like this thread to get at least as long as the historical photos one.

Playing helicopter with a local child. Why Valve is awesome. Abraham Tarwoe fled the Liberian civil wars when he was 12 and came to the US, winding up in Rhode Island. After seeing some enlisted friends he chose to be a Marine. He was killed in combat and, upon his wishes, his body was flown back to his hometown in Liberia for burial with full military honors. -His best friend presenting the United States flag to his mother -His son, dressed in miniature Blues, stands watch over his dads coffin. -Abraham's best friend, Corporal Michael Wiles, breaks down talking to the family after the service. -The funeral service.
