To me LSU Football Means....
Setting up Thursday evening for Saturday morning. It means boudin and sausage. Ice cold beer and crown and coke. Loud music and even louder cheering. It means grabbing a drink and taking a break from tailgating to watch The Golden Band from Tigerland come down victory hill. Looking up and seeing LSU flags in the background of smoke coming off the grill. It means NegaTigers and Sunshine Pumpers bitching each other out and then hugging like brothers after a big Touchdown. It’s about the words creole and cajun. LSU football means Saturday Night in Death Valley. "Callin' Baton Rouge" while Tiger Stadium fills up. Catching a whiff of Bourbon while you’re in your seats. It's about the whole field cleared with just one band member about to lead the entire band on the field. It’s about "tiger rag" and hearing 90,000+ spell out T-I-G-E-R-S. It’s about the "WIN" bar. It’s about Les leading his troops into battle. It’s about tradition. It’s about guys like Billy Cannon, Bert Jones, Tommy Casanova, Charles Alexander, Tommy Hodson, Kevin Faulk, Josh Reed, Matt Mauck, Marcus Spears, Laron Landry, Glenn Dorsey, Sam and Keke. It’s about moments in time like Billy Cannon’s punt return, Oranges thrown onto the field, Tommy Hodson setting off an earthquake in the bayou, Herb Tyler playing the game of his life against the ole ball coach and the gators, great kickers missing 5 FGs, a great ACC team not having a chance in Death Valley, Les rolling the dice and Flynn finding D-Byrd, Chad Jones bringin the lumber, 4th and inches end around to a TE against Bama, #3 ranked Arkansas waking up the sleeping giant and losing 41 to 17, a freshman gashing a great South Carolina defense, and Odel Beckham bringing it full circle with a punt return for a TD against Ole Miss. LSU football means that everyone right before kickoff is yelling "OOOOOOO" and waving their fist in the air. It’s about that first big hit on that first kickoff. It means that the first offensive possession for the opponent will be deafening and a 3 and out. It means that we show our defense respect by bowing to them, LSU Football means that the 4th quarter is our quarter. LSU football means that if we go to OT, we want to play in the North Endzone. It means that LSU fans have left Tiger Stadium a winner 391 times. It means that we go drink and eat some more after the game and watch 2 inferior Pac 12 teams play. It means Sunday we recuperate. It means Monday we get to work thinking out the next Saturday.
THIS IS LSU FOOTBALL.
I'm sure some will flame. Sorry if it's tl; and you dr but this is what LSU Football means to me...motherfricker!

I will be honest and say it use to mean much more to me but as old age has crept in on me the enthusiasm has decreased
Now it is just another way to blow a large wad of money every year

It's basically 3.5 months of Christmas, and when it's over we cling to everything related to it until the following September when the season starts up again.

Great post! Everything included, but to me its all about seeing great friends; usually 3-4 times per year on campus. I usually only go to 4 games a year but baby do I put everything in to those weekends! Yes; its like Christmas, cannot wait til the fall!

man, that is damn nice...I have to admit, that after the 1/9 debacle, I have never felt quite the same about it all...but posts like this make me realize just how much I like saturday night in tiger stadium...
