| Positive "Faith in humanity: Restored" GMT Edition (Posted on 1/27/13 at 2:48 pm)
Because there's enough negative bull shite on the internet and, god knows, the OT. The parents who made their son's wheelchair into the best Halloween costume ever Scott Widak has Down syndrome and suffers from liver disease, and he loves receiving mail. His nephew Sean posted his P.O. Box on Reddit and the site's users responded with hundreds of letters, packages, and gifts. The police officer who bought shoes for a barefoot homeless man The amazing couple who stuck together through unbelievable odds Homeless man shares blanket with dog. Local man in Afghanistan gives tea to two US soldiers. Man feeds a homeless man. Two Norwegian guys save sheep from rough waters. Firefighter fighting wildfires in Australia gives water to dehydrated Koala. A father and mother kissing their dying little girl goodbye. If you are wondering why all the medic people are bowing: in less than an hour, two small children in the next room are able to live thanks to the little girl's kidney and liver.

I have a soft spot for animals, I love this story... They say a dog is a man's best friend, but to John Unger, a Wisconsin resident, his dog, Schoep, means everything. Unger adopted Schoep, named after the famous Wisconsin ice cream, when he was just a puppy, and the two have been together ever since. Now, at 19 years old, Schoep has arthritis and has trouble sleeping, the Pioneer Press reports. Unger found that water is therapeutic for his pained buddy, so he takes Schoep into Lake Superior and lulls him to sleep.

I love animals, but these types of stories do nothing for me. Seeing people care for one another is such a beautiful thing.

Marine stands guard through the night as widow sleeps next to her husband one last time. During flash floods, a man in Australia saw a kangaroo nearly drowning. Although the kangaroo is a wild animal, he braved the waters and saved the little guy. A tourist gives his sandals to a local in a third world country. He noticed that she didn't have any shoes of her own, so he gladly gave his up. Kind tourist makes the day of a little girl when he gives her a flower - just look at the smile on her face, you know she will remember this for a lifetime. When a motorcyclist violently wrecked into a car, onlookers braved the flames to pull out the unconcious man from the wreckage. During one man's dying moments, all he wanted to do was be next to his lifelong best friend - his dog. This firefighter rescued a housecat from a house that was fully engulfed in flames.

A local story, and something that still goes on 10 years after this young man passed away... Jarrett's Joy Cart Jarrett Mynear was a very special 13-year-old boy who lived in the central Kentucky community of Nicholasville with his mom, Jennifer, his dad, Doug, and younger sister, Claire. He was interested in those things enjoyed by kids his age – playing with friends, video games, swimming and going on vacation. The thing that made Jarrett a little different from most kids was that he was diagnosed with cancer six times from two years old until he succumbed to the disease at age 13. As a result of his treatment and rehabilitation, Jarrett spent a lot of time in hospitals receiving chemotherapy, two bone marrow transplants and the amputation of his lower right leg. His treatments were administered at various medical institutions including the Mayo Clinic, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and the National Institutes of Health. When first diagnosed, a family friend told Doug and Jennifer to “look for the good in this bad situation.” Though that statement may seem a little odd, Doug and Jennifer discovered a number of special friends that the family met from across the country. It was because of these friends and Jarrett’s compassion for others that Jarrett decided to start Jarrett’s Joy Cart. As a patient himself, Jarrett knew that being in the hospital is scary and lonely. He also realized the importance of knowing that someone else was thinking about you as well. Jarrett’s goal in starting the Joy Cart was to bring excitement and joy into every child’s hospital stay.

What's wrong with this? A father doesn't want to ostracize his son, and does this to make him feel comfortable.

I know. God forbid a father is more concerned with loving his son than what others might think about him. Kid's lucky as hell to have a dad like that. And since I feel like there's still an aura of douche around here, here are some more ya freakin' Grinches. And other posters can feel free to add stuff. This has cost the owner roughly 32,000 in dry-cleaning so far. Respect your elders, especially when they deserve it. Window washers dress as Spiderman at children's hospital. Maryland uses his wealth and dresses up as Batman to visit sick kids. Cops help 13 year old blind child fulfill his wish to become a police officer. A kid running in a triathlon for other kids lost his prosthetic leg in the middle of the race. Marines picked him up and carried him the rest of the way. Woman tries to keep homeless man dry during downpour. Rugby star visits biggest fan. Dogs are heroes.
