damn. one night and this thread blew up! lol

I think he's a good defensive mind and an upcoming coach and that may be enough to get us to the playoffs next year, but this offense needs to improve as well next year to be considered a playoff threat to me.

You usually have better arguments than this.

As noted before, you clearly have no point, have presented no information, and made no case. You are simply asking people to talk and saying "No" like the kid in Bid Daddy playing "I win."

Cute, but not worth expending that much energy on. You have my point and you have yet to respond.

So, on with the entertainment.

Just like so many other threads where the informed just grunt and say the opposite of what other people say or ride out tired dogma with sophistry.

Boring usually, but sometime it's fun to stir up an ant hill.

Seriously, you're giving him no credit for taking a good roster to the playoffs, yet you're dogging him for having a losing record 2 years in a row with 2 of the least talented teams in the league.

They were bounced in the first round. That's with CP and Ariza playing at an elite level. Does that impress you?
Look what CP did for Vinny Del Negro last year.. That's right, I said Vinny Del Negro, that great coach.

Two years in a row we will be competing for the best lottery ping pong ball. Does that satisfy you?

Two people acted like borderline retards in this thread. I don't think I need to name names.

The onus is on y'all to tell me why he's a great coach, which as of yet I've yet to hear.

This coming from the dude who invented arguing with the statues in the park.

You remind me of the white cop (Hoppy)in the show "Sanford and Son". You know when they come to Fred's house and he tries to explain to Fred and Lamont what's going on. He uses all these fancy words and everybody looks at the black cop (Smitty) to find out what the hell he just said.

So CP + Ariza > CP + Griffin + Jordan + Caron + Kenyon Martin?
Not to mention they were in an evenly matched first round series and then got shite on by the Spurs in the next round.

You seem dead set on not believing Monty is a very good coach because he couldn't take a shitty team to the playoffs and lost to the Lakers while they were still a great team with one of the more talented starting fives in the entire league.

I love the name calling. I just said that Williams is young and unproven. I hope he gets better and the team turns it around, but he's not one of the best coaches in the league. Hopefully he will be one day, but he isn't yet. In my mind, one of the best means top 5 or so.. Well I'd rank Pop, Carlisle, Karl, Rivers and Thibodeau way before him and I could make arguments for Frank, Adelman and Collins. So if best in the league means around top 10-15 or so (out of 30) then I'm wrong. Just the way I took it..

Monty still has to prove himself in the long term, but it's ridiculous to suggest he's done a bad job so far.

Look, Monty has to do something next year, no doubt. But he and Demps have been in a tough situation from day one, and I think they've done a good job, all things considered. Next year is the true test.

my thoughts exactly

The only thing I'm dead set on is trying to hear why he's a great coach with the track record he has. Ok, obviously that's not gonna happen. You tell me, when will you be tired of this lack of production?

Yeah, I think you are just agreeing with everything I'm saying. Thanks.

And more of attacking the man if you can't attack the point. Typical.

There's a good deal of THAT in this thread.

Weak. Weak weak weak.

You've made my afternoon entertaining with your little dancing. Thanks.

I'll be upset when he can't get us anywhere when he has a good team to work with. He's got this team with a winning record right now when everyone's healthy, so I think that's fairly impressive. If he can even get us to around the 10th spot in the west by the end of the year then I'll consider it an overall good job for the season, especially when we started it out so poorly.

Dude, it's called adversity. Every coach has to deal with it. Players get injured. Players underperform. You only get a pass for a certain amount of time. So next year when EG gets hurt, or when Rivers needs another year to develop, Monty gets a pass again?

If he had a proven track record, then yes. But he doesn't, so no!

Smith has gotten better.

Where has Aminu and Vazquez gotten better at? They have logged more minutes and accumulated numbers, sure, but where have they actually improved? This is their first season playing extended minutes.

I'm sincerely asking.. Where have they improved?

Aminu

GV

click to sort each per 40 minutes. Aminu's shooting percentage is waaaaay up, as are his rebounds. his points are about the same. his PER is much higher.

GV is up in nearly every major statistical category

Vasquez's field goal percentage is up a little..3 point percentage and PER up a lot.

from 8 assists to 10 assists per 36 minutes

from 12 to 15 points per game per 36

So basically GV is par for his per 36 numbers? He was asked to score on a bad team?

Aminu led the acc in rebounding, that's not an astounding stat for him. He shoots high percentage dunks and put backs.

Seems like a by product of more minutes to me. Both players always projected to be decent if they got PT
