He didnt really develop those guys. They are compiling more numbers bc they are forced to play a lot of minutes. They all still have the serious faults they always had

I don't buy it. They all looked like trash when they got here even when they received minutes. No fan could have predicted Vasquez breakout season. Jason Smith was so bad he couldn't even stay on the court in the first season. All he was good for was those 6 fouls. Aminu was complete lost on the court last year. He actually looks competent on the court with direction offensively. Even with their deficiencies, they are leap and bounds better because of their development under Williams

Definitely with those two guys, imo.

Smith has gotten better each year. Marco got a good job after he was made expendable (in theory). Aminu has improved. Thomas has improved, but he just does not fit well. Vasquez is obvious. Rivers' defense is better, and we'll see what some cornbread does for his size. How much of this is Monty compared to just players getting better in time and on their own, I don't know. Henry has done nothing. Any other duds? He's not a miracle worker, but he seems to be at least average in this dept. I'd say better, but it'd be hard to argue worse is my point.

Tell me about it. He almost has Brees like status. Without the skins on the wall. It's ridiculous. I understand we don't have great talent at every position, but it's mind blowing to me how he gets all this praise. I'm not a hater. I don't pull against him.

You sound like a hater to me. It seems any time someone brings up Monty being a good coach you come in and rebuke that but its all good, everybody needs something.

That depends on YOUR level of expectations. We are early in a rebuilding process. He's a young coach whose still learning and growing. I know a lot of people expect him to be perfect with every lineup and every rotation. But there's a lot more good to Williams than that.

Nah brah. Not rebuking anything. No one has given anything to rebuke. Can you tell me why he's considered "a great coach"? I'm not the type like some on here and just like to argue with the statues in the park.

Idk either, maybe those people who say it see the potential just like the fans. I see the potential as well.

I totally agree with everything you said. We are young. We are rebuilding. But WHAT makes him a great coach? Last year we weren't young and rebuilding.

The one year he had some actual talent, he helped bring us back to the playoffs and (with a lot of help from CP3) actually made the Lakers series competitive when everyone thought we'd get swept. The year after that, he kept one of the least talented rosters in the NBA competitive in plenty of games where they were overmatched. He's done a very good job so far with this roster with everyone completely healthy, but that much youth and inexperience is hard to overcome for any coach. It's not fair to count it against him that he lost a lot of games with the teams we've had the last 2 years.

See how he totally ignores the actual data in the thread, then just argues about words that mean different things to different people? And people call me a disturber of the peace . . .

All that you said still does not add up to anyone being a great coach. Sorry.

Last time he had an experienced, roster with a single elite player we made the playoffs and gave the Lakers a good run for a bit. But he's got Brian Roberts out there wasting possessions, an oft injured, still gaining his conditioning 2 guard, our starting PG is an overachiever and we're waiting for our future sniper elite rookie to acclimate and get his swole on.

Data? What data? Somebody has shown some improvement. That data? That doesn't make you a great coach. Come on.

Did I say it made him great? No. Above average in that department. The truth is you keep using "great" to mean like he's one of the all-time coaches, while others are using it to mean that he's do a well-above average job (trying to avoid using great to define great here) for this team which has many issues. Why this kind of discussion is presented, I don't know. It certainly isn't informative since you aren't presented data. It certainly isn't persuasive since you are not making argument just going "No" when someone makes one back. That leaves entertainment. Yes, that must be your intent.
