I honestly couldn't give two shits about two guys wanting to take their own lives, but why do they need a doctor? Was there not a bridge to jump off of? Do they not know how to use a rope? Were there no meds they could OD on? No razors to slit their wrists? No guns? Poison under the sink? Nothing? Seriously. Why drag doctors into this?

They're blind and deaf. They obviously would need help from someone. Does it matter if it's a doctor? Further, if the doctor is willing to help, who are you to refuse them the option?

Sounds pretty cowardly to me. Hellen Keller. I'll just leave that here.

No kidding. Some of the responses in here shows how devalued life is.

I like all of you smug bastards that can see and hear sitting here judging two men whose shoes you've never had to walk in. I'm glad they had the option to end their lives. And the notion that this was a selfish act is asinine. You want to know what's selfish? Wanting someone to live a horrible existence just to spare your feelings.

She was also blind and deaf from about 19 months so that's basically all she ever knew. So that's pretty irrelevant.

Why would you imagine that? Their decision could been based solely on emotion and self pity.

You're right. I've never had to walk in their shoes. And I consider myself fortunate to possess all of my five senses. Suicide is never the right option. Take a step back and think about what you are saying. You are lauding the act of giving up on the most important of all things, life.

If your dog was completely blind and deaf, what would happen and why?

Too easy to predict. You want to be more humane to a dog than a human?

Your definition of "humane" is not shared by many, many people on this earth.

Come back and say that when you lose two of your senses, are dying from an incredibly painful disease, are paralyzed from the neck down, etc. There's a difference between life and existence.

Then why do you buy it when the vets say it?

Because I place more value on a human life than that of an animal which lacks a conscious ability to choose.

Yet you have a problem with someone exercising their ability, and I think right, to choose.

I have absolutely zero problem with someone exercising their right to choose. I have a problem with what they chose. A person has the right to choose between lots of things of which one option is not a good one.
