| Hackers have vowed revenge for Swartz's death (Posted on 1/26/13 at 10:30 am)
shite is getting real...
quote:
The hacker-activist group Anonymous says it hijacked the website of the U.S. Sentencing Commission to avenge the death of Aaron Swartz, an Internet activist who committed suicide. The website of the commission, an independent agency of the judicial branch, was taken over early Saturday and replaced with a message warning that when Swartz killed himself two weeks ago "a line was crossed." The message read in part: Citizens of the world, Anonymous has observed for some time now the trajectory of justice in the United States with growing concern. We have marked the departure of this system from the noble ideals in which it was born and enshrined. We have seen the erosion of due process, the dilution of constitutional rights, the usurpation of the rightful authority of courts by the "discretion" or prosecutors. We have seen how the law is wielded less and less to uphold justice, and more and more to exercise control, authority and power in the interests of oppression or personal gain." The hackers say they've infiltrated several government computer systems and copied secret information that they now threaten to make public. Family and friends of Swartz, who helped create Reddit and RSS, say he killed himself after he was hounded by federal prosecutors.

sounds like the progress of anon anon is mad because they don't believe in property rights with respect to IP, and if you don't agree with them, well then they will oppress you and try to make you submit to their whims...it's totally wrong when others do the exact same thing, though

Anonymous has not specified exactly what files they have obtained. The various files were named after Supreme Court judges. According to the statement: Warhead – U S – D O J – L E A – 2013 . A E E 256 is primed and armed. It has been quietly distributed to numerous mirrors over the last few days and is available for download from this website now. We encourage all Anonymous to syndicate this file as widely as possible. This appears to be Anonymous sending a threatening message to whoever knows what might be on the encrypted files. Anonymous has encouraged anyone and everyone to distribute the files, so it is unknown who has the files or how many have been distributed. The files are useless without the encryption keys. The contents are various and we won’t ruin the speculation by revealing them. Suffice it to say, everyone has secrets, and some things are not meant to be public. At a regular interval commencing today, we will choose one media outlet and supply them with heavily redacted partial contents of the file. Any media outlets wishing to be eligible for this program must include within their reporting a means of secure communications. Currently two of the mirrors are slow, and one has gone offline completely.

They took over the DOJ Pre-sentencing website. Some of the films have Supreme Court Justice names. Their computers hacked?

And when they get caught and prosecuted for sedition/treason they'll say "oh wait - we were just foolin'" I think the punishment for hackers and virus developers is (in additional to federal guidelines) a punch in the face from anyone and everyone effected by their work.

change the subject to "Project Warhead" and request a sticky. This might get real. If I've learned one thing in the IT industry: don't screw with the private IT sector. It blows the public sector away. True crackers will always out crack the government.

I'm tired of anon. they never actually do anything except make empty threats or put stupid messages on a hacked web page. What they need to do is hack into politicians and govt officials emails, etc and dig up some dirt.

I for one can't wait for the day that all semblance of representative government is done away with and replaced by a cartel of shadowy nerds.

How does someone avenge the life of someone who killed themselves?

Well considering the guy was depressed, and it was one of the worse cases of prosecutor's overreach in the charges (basically they were threatening the guy with 35 years in jail for violating the Terms of Service agreement). This Attorney General was absolutely going crazy with overreach. She tried to confiscate a guy's motel and place of business because it had 15 drug crimes over the last 14 years. The Attorney, Carmen Ortiz, is a piece of s***.
