I'm not sure what's going on today, but they are not using wooden bats in any NCAA games, and except perhaps for your occasional turn-back-the-clock game, no NCAA games have had wooden bats since the 1970s.

In the last decade MLB has averaged about 1.07 homeruns per game. For some reason the NCAA does not want college baseball to be near these numbers. The article about the ball a while back kind of surprised me. I wouldn't have thought the pros used a livlier ball than college. If they want the bats to be deader, then they should definately use the livlier ball IMHO.
