Does it disturb you at all that Food stamp recipients have increased from 22 million to 46 million? That is more than double. That is sad. Real sad.

What about the long term unemployed? The supposed housing recovery? Home sales were back down in December. And if you really keep up with it most of the recovery is due to investors buying up real estate and turning it into rentals with plans to flip one day. Blackrock has plans to buy up to 1 billion in property in the Tampa/St Pete area for rental purposes. Is that real recovery?

It's positive if you listen to the Dems and negative if you listen to the Repubs.

The one thing I do believe is the unemployment figures are garbage. If discouraged workers were included you'd have a much clearer picture as to the state of the economy (as it relates to average workers). I think it would paint a pretty bad picture.

What about the market indices? Is that all fake too?

But they've been cooking the books on this shite for years

I specifically remember libs making the exact same argument regarding the economy with Bush.

But, but, but the figures don't include the people that stopped looking for work.

Sorry but that's been the case for a long time now. This isn't something new.

Do you know what is driving earnings? Reduced labor, less workers doing more work. Eventually you need to grow the top line to keep growth. Right now many big companies are crunching the middle. And all the piles of cash on hand? Do you know why? They dont want to invest right now. Do you know why? You need to read deeper in to that situation.

i don't know. i see alot of their problem as failure (or slowness) to adjust to a more post-industrial US. i'm not even sure the best policy work ever could help all that much there right now.

as they are most decembers? housing doesn't need to get too out-of-control again anyway, i'm with TM83 on that

Right

The housing bubble obviously caused us some problems

And homes being more affordable helps younger people get access to owning homes

I'm not sure why people desire to have a fake inflated housing market again but I guess they need something to bitch about.

December compared to past december. It is obvious you are not up to date on what is going on. Do you just read headlines? Or just the liberal point of view? Facts are facts. They are hard to ignore. And one of the factors for long term unemployed is that some are better off not working because they only take a small pay cut. Pure laziness

I like how you just read and react and make up whatever the worst possible scenario is to spin anything.

I mean you literally just made this shite up just have something to complain about.

That is not made up stuff. I invest heavily and get tons of data on earnings and various industries. The retail industry continues to lay off to reduce labor costs. Therefore you have less people doing more. You read headlines and dont go deeper than that. And most news media is liberal so you buy it. Very gullible.

ok, how was november year-over-year? october? no, i don't keep up with that or any nationwide sector on a monthly basis. so? i do keep tabs on most important trends

i am no liberal, i just try to be fair

even if were a liberal, i couldn't disagree with this innocuous claim as stated. but how big a factor is it? how would one know? the "poverty trap" concept of safety-net policy is a well-known problem

There is nothing wrong with cutting the fat

Maybe you prefer some unionized labor force where people are entitled to jobs where they do very little. I'm not interested in that type of economy.

And all that being said, the labor market IS improving

So you and your wife have very little in the way of marketable job skills at the moment. That's a sample size of 2 and doesn't have anything to do with the economy at large.

Be patient. After you get out of school and get some on the job training things will look up for you. Don't confuse your personal plight with the overall health of the economy.

I kige this. Better to have a lower cost of living. Sucks for people who bought houses at the peak of the bubble, but you could always give a long term tax writeoff for people who sell their primary home at a loss. At least that would soften the blow.

But keep in mind that one of the left's talking points in 2012 was "recovery" in the housing market. Which really meant higher housing costs.

Sure

And on that note they're probably wrong

Seems like some of the hardest hit areas by the housing market are still taking a beating. But part of that is because of terrible business climate in place like CA. I wouldn't expect economic conditions to improve there where they are their own worst enemy.

I would have to think that the housing market in the gulf south is still pretty solid if it ever really took that much of a hit to begin with.

"The Market" does not put disposable income into the hands of the spenders every month. Is your portfolio out purchasing goods, services, food or travel today?
