| Outside the box benefit of going to 3-4 (Posted on 1/25/13 at 8:15 pm)
Brees has always seemed to struggle against the 3-4 I like to think that practicing everyday against it would improve this. •Pittsburgh Steelers •Baltimore Ravens •San Diego Chargers •Dallas Cowboys •Green Bay Packers •Washington Redskins •Arizona Cardinals •San Francisco 49ers •Indianapolis Colts •Kansas City Chiefs •Houston Texans Bolded means they normally WTFPwn Drew Cleveland gave him hell when they ran it too.

Date back to the 80-90s defenses. Many ran 3-4 very successfully. Saints, Pitt, Green Bay, etc

That 2008 game also featured what I thought was Brees's best pass (scrambling out of the pocket, running towards the line of scrimmage he throws sort of across his body 30-40 yards downfield to perfectly hit Colston in stride for a 70 yard TD). Sneaky benefit of going to 3-4: the linemen seem to last forever. Smith is 31 and was done as an effective RDE a few years ago. If he were an equivalently talented 3-4 DE, he'd probably have another 2 or 3 years of effective play.

You can unbold the Packers and Cowboys, Brees has not struggled against those. In fact, he might be better against the Packers than anyone.
