Dude he was Defensive player of the year in the STATE!!! State trumps school!?!

Yeah, and Teo was at the Heisman presentation. The experts weren't deciding who is MVP. They were too busy offering scholarships, and they didn't offer one to him!

About 35 years ago UPitt had a LBer named Hugh Green who was supposed to be the greatest in the nation and one of the best of all time according to the media. He wasn't even the best on his team (Rickey Jackson), and he definitely wasn't the best in the country (Lawrence Taylor). I don't have an opinion on this guy, Riley, but MVP per the media doesn't mean much.

No, I say he's a long-term project because we're absolutely stacked at LB ahead of him for at least 2-3 more years.

If Duke commits here I have $1 that says he starts as a red-shirt freshman or at the very least gets playing time...of the people you just named i still say he is the most technically sound MLB of the class...

he has not even touched the surface of his potential...I will bookmark this post and we will revisit this when he is a junior should he decide to commit to LSU...

Feel free to do that, but to say a guy that has been at Curtis for at least 4 years, and probably longer, hasn't scratched the surface of his potential is just wrong. By being in their S&C program (the same one that spawned the S&C coordinators at LSU, Alabama, Florida St, and other schools), he is going to be more physically developed with less room to grow than other players.

Players come of out Curtis much closer to being a finished product than they do at other schools. It's not a knock on any kid, becuase it helps a lot of them go on to play CFB, but it's just the nature of what goes on at Curtis.

We're talking about an incredibly stacked depth chart. It borders on bloated, in all honesty.

I agree with. Most years I think that Riley definitely would have gotton a scholarship offer from LSU. It just happens that right now we are stacked with young LB's. You just can't take them all. At some point in the future LSU might look back and regret not taking him even with the numbers we have at LB right now. He's just a very solid hard nosed player and its hard to pass on someone like him.

For starters, there's only one other player in the class with him in actuality. So that's not much to hang your hat on.

Secondly, you're talking about technique. With the amount of players ahead of him (Barrow, Jones, Welter, Alexander & Jones, Louis) with multiple years in the system and on the field, along with the rest I mentioned, you are forgetting to realize that we have quite honestly the best fundamental technique teacher at the college level in Chavis.

We don't need perfected technique coming straight out of HS because we've already got All-Conference caliber upper classmen, as well as wicked younger talent...and they're all getting taught better technique than Riley has ever been taught before in his life.

...and they're getting it DAILY.

So I'm not really sure again where your argument for this cat is. I'd rather you inform or educated me on what the 2014 LB Class looks like. Riley's really, really lucky that Daub is evidently a flake because if that guy would've stuck, this poor kid would've gotten processed fairly quickly.

So tell me about next year's class. That's more than likely who Riley needs to try to compete against. The guys ahead of him are gonna stay that way. He needs to realize he's looking at seeing the field in spot-duty as a RS Soph (3rd year player), and perhaps making an injury start in his 4th season, with perhaps a chance at an every-day job in his last year.

3-4 years ago, Riley would have been the best LB in the state.

TE's and LBs are really coming on strong in the state

As long as the last 3 letters you posted are true, I'll be happy

Just joking, but that's really cool.

No. I've made my position on this well known. I don't see how putting any money on a meaningless bet would change anything.

Besides, you haven't really disputed anything I've said. You talk about Riley not even scratching the surface of his potential, but going on to say he's the most technically sound LB in the class. Those two things do not correlate. Him being technically sound actually gives my position more creedence. Because that means he's closer to his ceiling, there is less left for him to learn.

i will admit this if he signs with LSU Riley will move to weakside...he may have to wait just a little bit longer! Foster is a man in the middle...but these two playing side by side LSU becomes Linebacker U!!!

I can say for a fact that he will be getting great coaching in high school.

re: Is Duke Riley really a Four(4) Star?

3 years ago he would have been a definite take. We just have so much young talent at LB right now. However if we dont get him I have a feeling that we are really going to regret it and I hope he winds up as a part of this class.

sorry I can't take that bet because your probably right about that
