I'm going to agree with you here. I have lived here for just under two years and don't find it to be some dump. As my brother often says: If you're bored, you're boring.
Don't go to the Cub every Friday night if you don't want to see the same people all the time. My wife is from here and hates the usual hangout spots for the exact reason that everyone knows everyone.
And if you have any interest in doing anything outdoors, there is so much to do here you couldn't try it all if you wanted to. Hunting and fishing, biking, boating, hiking, I could go on. I expected Shreveport to be a cow town when I moved up from BR, but I have been pleasently surprised.

Those country bars on Mansfield Rd towards Stonewall look like fun.

Shreveport is nowhere near as bad as south LA people make it out to be.

Yeah I think that was it, I passed by there a few weeks ago when I was in town. Looked like there were maybe 2 country places next to each other. It seriously looked like the kinda of dive I'd like to visit.

I would stay at Horseshoe and take a cab over to Shreveport for the bars. Downtown shreveport is not the safest place away from where the bars are. I have a buddy who is a cop downtown and he has some pretty crazy stories.

I disagree. It's pretty shitty here. I've lived here for the past year and I have to say that in general, this place isn't lively. No downtown weekly get togethers, no big festivals. They play cowboys games up here. Food sucks in general. Women aren't as hot. They only sell hard alcohol in liquor stores and you can't buy it on Sundays. I could go on and on.
