Going over for the Buddy Guy concert next weekend. The Hilton in Sport is $94 but the Horseshoe (where the show is) is only $135. Which is the better option? Are there bars on by the Hilton downtown for a group of guys to have a beer at post show or stay in the Casino confines?

Hilton is and plenty of places to grab a beer within walking distance. You will cab it to the show though.

I've lived here 24 years. The "cool" places to hang out are where EVERYONE goes. Everyone knows everyone basically.

I agree stay at the Hilton
Horseshoe has jack shite to do besides gamble and go to the CMT bar....and nothing by it (Except the boardwalk but you don't wanna party there)
a lot more options downtown and it stays open until 6am so you could consider the concert your pre-game

Agreed, that is if you are looking to party. CMT is just a decent place to grab a beer. Used to grab one when I closed up shop at the Boardwalk. At one point BPD was always at the Boardwalk so getting a buzz there isn't a good idea. If you are going to walk around downtown just be mindful of your surroundings. It isn't too far from the bottoms and they like to sneak on over for some easy prey from time to time.

This. If you want to gamble. Stay at Shoe. Otherwise, cab back to Hilton/Downtown and party till dawn. Don't drive back after drinking though. The bridge is a choke point.

I stay in Shreveport at least once a month and I only stay at the Hilton.
It's a very nice, well appointed hotel and they have recently changed up their bar and restaurant area for the better.

I stayed at the Horseshoe 2 weeks ago for a doctors appt. for my daughter and it cost us $49.00 a night! I have also stayed at Boomtown, Sams town, and Diamond Jacks. All were good except Diamond Jacks it was horrible. Horseshoe has been the best so far..

This, place really took a down hill turn in the last few years. Used to be a decent place, wouldn't stay there if it was free now. Boomtown, and Horseshoe are good. The Hilton is nice too, just depends on what you are looking to do after the concert.
