If I earned $1 billion from being the best golfer in the world I'd probably want to save over $90 million in state income taxes seeing as I would already be paying over $300 million in federal income taxes.

I'm wondering the same thing. Apparently it is wrong to not want to pay taxes now.

nobody wants to hear a rich guy whine about taxes, regardless how correct said rich guy is. end of the day phil probably makes more from endorsements than playing prize money and his PR told him to apologize.

The result of unchecked progressivism run amok. Years of P.C. bull shite coming to fruition and soft fascism by our corrupt govmnt in D.C. Corporations are scared of 'Uncle Sam' and don't want to ruffle feathers. Poster above is correct, his sponsors most likely made him back down to save them from the typical liberal 'jim jones' followers slandering their product/business. B/C anyone that is not in line w/ their dear leader is a target for them to try and destroy. Maybe Chik Fil A can sponsor him !

This has been common place for quite a while. Taxes are out the roof in California and the state's debt is even higher. Why would someone making that much money want to live in California? Why would anyone want to live in California for that matter, outside of those depending on the system to support them?

This. The apology was for PR purposes only. He was correct in saying his feelings about his taxes were his own personal business and should have been kept to himself. Should have just packed up and moved without any explanation.

Good for him. My love of the land here is the only thing that is preventing me from leaving this state. Such a shame that the natural world here is accompanied by such awful politics. It's getting worse here, too. I have noticed that the gap is closing in Orange County, which should make every republican/conservative shite their pants.

Almost irrelevant unfortunately. The battle is for the states and CA is a lost cause in the eyes of the rest of the nation.

This is why the fact Cali is losing ANY businesses due to their business climate is a huge indictment of their politics. Somehow, these guys actually have managed to frick up a political slam dunk. Some states have to kill themselves to figure out how to attract people. All California really needs to do is NOT frick it up. And yet, they do. If you can manage politically to talk people into LEAVING California for say, Texas, then you're probably capabale of making it seem sensible to frick Roseanne Barr instead of SJU.
