| Baseball: Perfect Game ranks 2013 recruiting class #4 (Posted on 1/18/13 at 9:17 am)
PerfectGame.org Article COLLEGE RECRUITING TOP 50 (1-10) 1. Florida 2. South Carolina 3. Miami 4. Louisiana State 5. Southern California 6. Oregon 7. San Diego 8. North Carolina 9. Georgia Tech 10. UCLA 4. Louisiana State Total 2013 class additions: 16 PG Top 100 commits: 3 Total points: 117 Average class player ranking: 7.31 Head of the class: OF Justin Williams The Tigers put together another outstanding recruiting class with the ultra-physical Williams leading the charge. Williams will be an incredibly difficult prospect to get to campus in the fall, but he's a risk worth taking. Williams, a PG All-American, is a massive, yet athletic, 6-foot-3, 215-pounder, ranked No. 4 on the national stage. The talented outfielder has good speed and a big-time arm, clocking in at 91 from the outfield at PG National last summer. Offensively, Williams has explosive bat speed and big-time power. The scary thing about Williams is he's still developing as a baseball player at this level. Class synopsis LSU assistant coaches Javi Sanchez and Alan Dunn are all over the place on the recruiting trail, and it shows with the quality recruiting classes they're assembling. The Tigers put together a balanced recruiting class during the fall. On the mound, the Tigers are led by impressive left-hander Tyler Allen (184). Allen is a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, who topped out at 90 last August. He sits consistently 87-89 with the fastball, while also utilizing a mid-70s curveball and low 80s changeup. LSU signed an outstanding crop of position players, with the list including first baseman Nick Longhi (50), middle infielder Kramer Robertson (76), outfielders Jake Fraley (116) and Jarret DeHart (134) and third baseman Danny Zardon (137). Longhi has been impressive at PG events with a productive bat, while he also could pitch for the Tigers with a fastball touching 90. Fraley is a fantastic athlete with good speed and a great arm in the outfield, while DeHart is a talented hitter from the left side. Zardon is a hard-hitting prospect with good power, a polished approach and good defensive actions at third base.

Getting excited about Baseball recruiting is absolutely worthless to me. In the end I will always end up let down.

Perfect game is more about providing scouting for the draft and putting on showcases than pushing players to college

Ive seen Williams play the last 2 years and will see him again this year. He is scary good at the plate and has a cannon. If he comes to LSU, he will play right away.
