The cyst had begun draining. So ive been in the shower with hot water on my arse letting it drain more.

Stick a Downy ball in it and sleep on your stomach. It will smell better when you wake up.

Go get it lanced and see how it is after that, but you will probably just ended up getting surgey. From my and it seems like most other people's cases your gonna have to get surgery for it to completely go away.

I had it lanced the night before the 06 Sugar Bowl in some random ER I stumbled in in downtown New Orleans, the only puke I recall smelling was what was coming out of my mouth.

I smell what can only be described as puke, burnt metal and a-hole. The cyst had begun draining. So ive been in the shower with hot water on my arse letting it drain more. I have to get some sleep now, it's been hard to come by lately. Do I still need to hit up the ER? Or just keep letting it drain? I'm calling Gen Surgery to see if I can get surgery moved ahead to this week. Thanks all

Where is your corpsman? You need to talk to him/her. Go to sick call.

Sick call is at 8am (in 15 minutes your time)

Go there and talk to the corpsman and explain. You should be the first to be seen other than an emergency

Get that shite checked out by a doctor. I had one in undergrad. First surgery is to drain it. Second surgery is to dig in and remove it. Not fun at all. Get ready for lots of gauze and blood and sitz baths.

Had 2 of these in high school before having the surgery to get "the pocket" removed. No problems since. But my god these things are painful. First one I had the dickbag doctor deadened the skin and lanced. Well then the a-hole proceeded to tell me that it was deeper than he imagined and started to carve away to try to fix it. Yeah that hurt and didnt help at all in the long run.

After the surgery be prepared to have to get someone to help you change those bandages daily while it heals from the inside out unless you are pretty flexible and capable of doing that yourself.

re: OT Doctors: Pilonidal cyst**Updates Erry'where***

I had one about 40 years ago while at LSU. I went to the infirmary and they lanced it and packed it with gauze that had to be changed daily.

My roommates girl friend had that wonderful job.

FYI, polynoidal cysts are birth defects where external skin gets covered up and is located inside the body. That allows hairs and sweat to accumulate.

I was told to expect a return, but happily, mine has not and its nearly 40 years later.

BTW, the worst smell I can remmeber and it had to be worse for the doctor and nurse. I nearly threw up on the other end.

re: OT Doctors: Pilonidal cyst**Updates Erry'where***

Know I'm a little late to the party but would give my 2 cents on this. I had developed one two years ago at gym. Anyway was horrible pain. By the time I went to doctor it felt like I had a golfball shoved in my arse and I was sitting on it everyday. Was so bad had to lay down to watch tv and eat. Had to have outpatient surgery done at BR clinic by colon doctor specialist in town. worst pain afterwards was pulling packed gauze out of the hole left behind which h told me was the size of a golf ball. Once removed was immediate relief. Only took a couple of days to heal with a nice scar. One thing to remember is to shave that area to keep hair from growing. That is what causes those. Its hair particles that break off and become ingrown and starts the whole process. By shaving is the best way to prevent that. So wife shave that area every week just like nurse did before the procedure.

Shaving that area just seems like a bad idea because your chances of having an ingrown hair go up a dramatically.

I've never heard of this ailment, but for some reason I can't look away from this thread.
