He's a practicing Muslim, and I think he's biting the hand that orders drone attacks that kill Muslim women and children.

For what it's worth, they reportedly asked him to just move on to the next song and he refused multiple times, so they escorted him off stage.

I'm getting a blank for that link, but I am familiar with the legislation you are talking about.
I actually think it applies to being in the presence of 'important officials' and not just secret service, but I could be wrong.
