They have been one of the countries highest grossing live acts for about 20 years now, so there's that

Do you have a statistic to back that up? Meanwhile, Phish has been the world's premier live act for the past 25 years.

And Dave Matthews grosses better than both WSP and Phish.... Does that make him an "elite tier" jam band?

True But he does jam and he sells out every arena he plays. Therefore by your phish logic he is superior

lol, I guess I literally can't even tell you the last time I listened to something by Phish. Months ago probably. Hell it's been weeks since I've even listened to something by a "jam band". It's laughable that you would think Widespread fans are some musically enlightened breed of people and Phish fans only listen to Phish. I mean, this is still Widespread Panic we're talking about here, right? The band where literally every single song and every single jam sounds exactly the same, every show.

Going by personal experiences and I'm apparently not the only one. I'm not saying that there aren't exceptions but that's the stereotype and it exists for a reason.

That's probably the most retarded thing I've seen in this tread and that's fricking impressive

Have you ever even seen Phish? I have seen both bands countless times. WSP can be fun, but they really don't even compare to what Phish does on a nightly basis.

No. The sad part is I would like to. I have no problem with the band and I consider them extremely talented musicians that make up a very very good band. I just find their fans, the people who act like you do, to be so fricking annoying that I refuse to surround myself with them for a day.

Musically WSP' has a noticeable lack of standout shows- and more specifically standout jams. Phish has produced legendary jams like the Went Gin,the Providence Bowie, the 6.11.94 Red Rocks YEM,11.22.97 Halley's, 12.6.97 Tweezer, 12.7.95 Mike's Song, etc etc (I could continue but you get the point) Widespread doesn't have anything in their history even remotely close to those peformances.

I've tried numerous times to listen to phish and I don't like them at all but I'm not sitting here saying that they are boring and not very good because that would be stupid of me to say about a band that I'm not a fan of. I don't think its bad, its just not for me. You don't have to like them but to say stupid shite like all WSP songs sound the same and they aren't even close to the level of Phish is dumb because it's really just an opinion
