Ideally, what should have happened is that Deadspin publishes the story and the real journalists take over and do real investigating. Instead, Deadspin publishes the story, and everyone goes into crazy "protect Notre Dame" mode. Forde, Mandel, ESPN, they are all complicit in this now This is the part that's been really nauseating. He told lie after lie to gain publicity, and evidently, it is deemed acceptable because he's a Golden Domer.
I refuse to read 300 pages. I posted earlier around page 100 or so, but these two quotes sum it all up for me. T'eo is being protected simply bc he goes to one of the "Brand" Programs that ESPN is going to promote over the other 119 CFB teams. A player from Bama, USC, Ohio St., Michigan, Oklahoma, Longhorn Network will get this type of protection simply bc E$PN knows what butters their bread. I hope everyone is enjoying what ESPN is doing to the sport. The fun has just begun. CFB = WWE now. That's reality. Learn to deal with it and more importantly, you better learn to laugh at shite like this. There will be more to come. The double standards of the "Brand" programs are quite glaring.

The Notre Dame AD is going to get fired when the truth comes out. They did a half-hearted investigation to find just enough evidence to back Te'o. They had no intentions of finding out if Te'o had lied or not. They didn't want to know, they just hoped to protect themselves, cause they pushed the sob story as well.

I don't think it has ever been claimed or reported that they were love buddies for 3 years? My understanding was that it was over a 5 month period after the supposed car accident in April 2012.

No. He won't. Nor do I understand why he would be. He can just claim he was duped to. He too will have the protection of the media. I don't think everyone here realizes the power our media has in both sports and politics. Like I said earlier: ESPN OWNS CFB now. If ESPN wants ND's AD as the scapegoat, then yes, he will be fired. I just don't see that right now.

The original news stories (which were not refuted at the time by ND/Te'o) stated that Te'o met Kekua in person at Stanford in 2009.

Interesting but not surprising ... I find it hilarious though that Notre Dame went over hell and back to cite their "private investigation" Turns out all they did was do an electronic search which is what Deadspin did in the first place How do they not interview anyone? If this isn't self-implicating Te'o and Notre Dame aiding him in covering up the hoax, I don't know what is

The investigation ordered by Notre Dame was limited to the electronic search, [Notre Dame spokesman Dennis] Brown said. Investigators did not interview Te'o or his family, nor did anyone attempt to contact Ronaiah Tuiasosopo or any of his relatives. In response to questions, university officials said the investigators did not examine cell phone records, e-mails or other electronic communication to determine the length or extent of Te'o's communication over the past few years with the person claiming to be Lennay Kekua, nor did the university ask Te'o to take a lie detector test.
what an absolute joke

This.^^^ Some dude from Notre Dame will be pleading the 5th Amendment before Congress next year.

I highly doubt it was a private investigator, probably told the secretary to google the persons name and they found out she wasn't real. I think slowly details will leak out. The SOuth Bend Tribune seems to be one that DGAF and has no problems uncovering this themselves. It seems to me the reporter who got straight up lied to by Te'o's famiy would want to get to the bottom of this and seek the truth.

The Tribune writers seem to be the only journalists that were actually offended by being duped used as pawns to strengthen Manti's Heisman campaign.

They are part of a larger organization with lots of experience with feigning outrage over abuses but doing very little to get to the bottom of the situation or prevent it from happening again.

see this statement currently scrolling on the espn ticker about someone from ND stating teo had every right to tell his story how he did.. blah blah.. and ending with "he did nothing wrong" thats horse shite. teo himself admitted to half of it.. and did at least do some wrong by going with the flow and not coming clean to start.. that is at best.

Only thing that would make the ND search even more pathetic is if they used Bing to do their online searches.

No. He won't. Nor do I understand why he would be.
The AD claims he found on on December 26th. From my understanding, ND students set up a foundation and people started donating money to this foundation some time the day or couple of days after the Title game. Meaning, ND knew ND students set up a foundation, people were donating money to this foundation for a person that didn't exist, and ND said nothing about it. That's pretty egregious and IMO easily enough for an AD to be fired over.
