fiscal cliff bill...long term care related (Posted on 1/19/13 at 9:39 pm)
Sorry this isn't about gun control, but I read the bill passed for the "fiscal cliff" and it included a provision stating a committee was being formed to analyze and FUND long term care. This is going to be a huge expense. Any idea how we pay for it?

1) Somehow limit the amount Medicaid is willing to pay the LTC facility. 2)The look back period has gone from 3 to 5 years. Might increase that to 7 or 8. 3) If Obamacare can care require a person to have insurance, why not require LTC insurance when you get a certain age? It would probably just be a cost-shift, as the government would probably end up subsidizing it,but it might be worth a shot. 4) There could probably be something be done to varying levels of care that are needed to reduce costs but it would be require a fairly large facility to be able to do mush with that.
